JBJ introduces the smallest inline ultra-violet sterilizer to date. This miniature version was specifically designed for eradicating harmful micro-organisms and unattractive green free- floating algae in fresh & saltwater aquariums less than 30 gallons.
This revolutionary UV sterilizer/clarifier is completely submersible, which can be placed discreetly behind the filter walls of most nano aquariums without ever being seen.
The NANOZAPP™ utilizes a UV-C G3.5 bi-pin lamp that is encapsulated in our unique Quartz Sleeve that is air tight and allows for a 99% transmission rate to efficiently neutralize disease causing pathogens. Simply….connect to your existing pump and you are ready to go!

As far as a UV lamp, it works. But as far as security is concerned... not only does every single connection leak, but the body leaks too.
The plastic connectors that are meant to link it to your hose can also come off by themselves!

I'm using this in a little SPS tank. I was having a little trouble with nuisance algae. Within about 5 days if installing the NanoZapp - most of it was gone. Very niceproduct for the money. I recommend it.

The sterilizer indeed does it's job. What I found bothersome was that every fitting leaked, including the body. I'm using it to assist in breakIng down residual ozone (O3) into free oxygen (O2) on the outlet of my Ozone Reactor before going into a Fluidized Carbon Reactor returning to my sump on a mixed hard coral, mainly SPS reef. It is therefore out my sump. I Fixed the drips with a little acrylic cement and all is well. Most would use it maybe in the refugium on a nano reef, like the nano cube, where those drips annoying me would never alarm you. The fittings are not barbed, which also creates a leaky situation. Needs a minor redesign, and for build quility I give it 3 stars. For funtioning as a UV sterilizer, I give it 5 for the intended purpose. Just keep in mind if you want to go external inline, it will leak without glue and teflon tape on the threads!

I had pea soup (Green Algae Bloom) off and on for months in my JBJ 28g Nano-Cube fresh water planted aquarium. I've been trying to combat the algae bloom with frequent 20% partial water changes, going 3 days without lighting, reduced lighting time periods, and it's doing nothing to get rid of the algae blooms. I have tested my water daily and everything except phosphates are at ideal or safe levels. I realized that I had been over feeding my fish and I let the filter clean outs laps a bit longer than I should have. I have an abundance of Phosphates in my tank and I have performed frequent 2x a week filter clean outs (using old aquarium water) along with daily partial water changes, and the algae blooms still happen. So until I can get the phosphates under control, I've added the JBJ NanoZapp and in 3 days I now have clear water after a 20% partial water change to jump start the removal of the algae bloom. I don't intend on using the NanoZapp continuously, but for emergency purposes only. I plan on swapping my JBJ Quad Compact Fluorescent lighting fixture for a custom made 6500K LED fixture to reduce algae blooms even further. The NanoZapp took less than 20 minutes to install and can be installed on any available pump channel in the rear of the 28g Nano-Cube. I only recommend using the UV Sterilizer for emergencies as it shouldn't be needed if you're keeping a healthy aquarium in the first place with the right lighting and regular maintenance.

Seems to be well constructed. Very easy to install. Design well thought out. Mine runs on a JBJ 28 Nano LED freshwater. In 3 days green algae growth seems to have visibly slowed down. Hopefully this reduction will continue. For now 4 stars but in a week or so possibly 5.
For the price....why not give it a try.

Great product, it performs equally as good as the biocube's sterilizers. Only a day has passed and there's already a great difference in water quality. It fits perfectly in the back of my cube and goes completely unnoticed.

Our aquarium gets direct sunlight for about 2 hours a day. I would move it, but its location is the only place it can go in our house - - so it's sunlight or no aquarium. Our problem was algae blooms (pea soup) and white clouds in the water. We had tried all kinds of chemicals and bacteria, but nothing did the trick.
We have had this for 3 weeks now. The first week, it cut down on the green a lot, but not so much with the white. About 10 days in, I re-added some of the clarification chemicals (less than recommended) and voila, clear water. Since then, the water has remained clear with far fewer chemicals added. So I am very happy. The product is expensive (like all aquarium stuff) but, if it continues to work, the reduced cost of chemicals will even out the expense in about 9 months.
I gave this a 4 of 5 stars for two reasons:
1. It's big. I have a 10 gallon tank, and this cannot stand up in it with my Marina filter pump above it. So it lays on its side, connected by a hose. It sits in the back, but you can see it and it looks bulky back there. But, even with that, it's worth it.
2. The sales stuff said it had the equipment to hook up to any filter pump. For my Marina filter, I had to go to the hardware store and get a fitting so it stayed snug. So, that was a bit of a headache. More information about popular filter pump hookups, or more hardware in the box would solve this.
So, 3 weeks in, so far so good. If that changes, I will update. I have not cleaned the lamp yet (1 month in you're supposed to do that).
