Satisfield Customer

This tank is perfect for my office , size, construction and style and with the great help from the knowledgeable group at Marine Depot I was able to get all of the other items needed for a successful setup. Being a business owner myself, I appreciate that the crew at Marine Depot went out of their way to make me a satisfied customer. Thank you, I am glad I chose Marine Depot and will continue to be a customer.

Good, Bad the Ugly

I have had this up and running for about 6 months now. The tank is beautiful once set up. I downsized from a 72 bow front and am pleased with the overall performance. The gripes I have are as follows...The tank and stand were both badly damaged upon arrival. Glass was shattered and the stand looked like it was dragged behind the ups truck. MD sent out replacements immediately and yet again on arrival the stand was destroyed. The second tank was mostly intact (filter handles were broken) but once I filled it it had a "smudge" on the front of the glass about the size of my hand. Heating process or lack of polishing maybe? So onto tank and stand #3. The third tank arrived safely and complete, the stand not so much. Luckily I had not sent the second stand back yet and was able to make a good stand from both of them. MD was nice enough to give me a $75 credit for the hassle. So I say this...The packaging by JBJ is terrible, the pumps and glass tops are not secured well inside the tank when they package it, the quality of craftsmanship is so so (seems like these tanks are slapped together) The experience was a total nightmare. I blame it mostly on several stops and transfers from UPS to different trucks (I'm in Fl.) and crappy packaging. After all this I do have a beautiful tank now. I just recently ordered a 30 rl..Lets hope for a better go this time. It is a rather stunning tank.

JBJ Rimless 30g - Nice Tank

I purchased this when I moved to a condo and needed to downsize a bit. The product was in perfect condition on arrival, very well packaged by Marine Depot. I have had it in operation for almost a year and am very pleased with the tank overall, a great buy. Two things keep this from a five star: the covers don't quite fit, the plastic holding tabs are slightly too think not allowing the cover to fully recess; one of the pumps had a damaged shaft, and although it runs it has trouble starting on power-up. I've fit in a nano-zap and Tunze skimmer with no problems at all, and added a set of wave pumps for water flow. I plan to upgrade the return pumps this year to DC, and add a refugium in one section of the sump. It looks GREAT overall with my AI Prime lighting it up.

Nice AIO

I got the 45 gal (rectangular, not the cube) on sale with the stand. Packaged well and pretty straight forward on setting up. The baffles in the back were a little crooked but I was still able to fit a Tunze 9004 skimmer and plan to add a media reactor soon. The dual overflows are great but the return pumps by themselves might be too weak. Not really an issue if you plan on adding power heads & a wavemaker as I did. The glass lids look nice and fit well. The rimless design is very nice, just get a scrubbing wand in addition to a Mag Float so you can get the curved corners. This provides a good amount of room in the back for an all-in-one to fit gadgets and a small refugium. If you do add a refugium, make sure you place the aquarium sufficiently far away from a wall so you can scrape off the black matting from the back of the tank for your light (was a challenge for me since I placed it maybe 2" from the wall before I set up the refugium). I do wish I had an extra 10 gallons to help minimize fluctuations in water parameters. The benefit of an all in one is that there's no sump which means extra storage, but if this is your only display tank, you'll find that you'll need more storage that what is within the cabinet. I have an auto top off reservoir on the right which burns up the whole half of the cabinet, salt & most of my supplements on the left bottom, and all my control unit wiring on the top left, but no room for water change buckets or testing kits. All in all I am very happy with this tank setup and I would recommend it to others looking for a mid sized all-in-one.

Great product

The jbj 45rl is everything I expected and more. The instructions on the stand were a little vague but it can be figured out easily.the tank and accessories look fantastic and I can't wait to add some stock to it. The customer service from Marine Depot is outstanding the 23 items I ordered were delivered on time and get ready to have more packing peanuts than you have ever seen!

Great Tank!

I was hesitant to try this tank because it had just came out on the market and there were literally zero reviews on it. That being said I am very satisfied with my purchase! The glass my not be low iron but it is thick (8mm) and the bent corners look really sharp. Good quality for sure. It is a shame that people complain about products like these because you get what you pay for. I priced rimless starphire glass aquariums around 100 gallons and I was looking at over $1000 just for the tank. On the other side of the coin I bought an All Glass 125g from my LFS for $200, but the glass sucks and its just a big rectangle with no flair. Can't have your cake and eat it too. The silicone in the sump area may not be perfect but who the hell cares, you can't see it anyway. Both my return pumps work great and you can easily fit a skimmer, heater, ATO, refugium, etc in the sump. This tank has alot more space than I thought. I have 5 fish, 4 shrimp, and probably 20 diff species of coral and it still could house more fish or inverts. If people pay $200 for desktop nano tanks (i.e. nuvo fusion by I.M.) then I'd say $400 w/ free shipping for a 45 gallon rimless isn't a bad price. By far the best tank I have ever owned! Oh and it also helps when you put a Hydra 52 over top of it ;)

unimpressed

For the price I can't complain; got it here on black Friday for a great deal. It has the potential for a great setup, but it is not not solidly built. Anything better would cost twice as much

JBJ 30 Rimless

First the good: I was really impressed with the packaging. The tank was put in a much bigger box with a truck load of peanuts to protect the tank, it was impressive! Now to the tank itself: upon opening the box and at first glance the product seemed very well made, but I soon discovered a few issues:- The sump area contains a number of baffles which are siliconed to both the back wall and the middle wall. However, all the silicone from the middle wall had detached, meaning that the baffles were only being held by the back wall- The round edges on the tank were a nice touch, but then I realized the front glass area was a little distorted (wavy). This became more evident when looking from the side; seemingly the process of bending the glass actually distorted the straight area as well. Not a lot, just enough to create distorted viewing when filled with water - Since the filter baskets don't sit snug against the mid wall, some of the water from the overflow falls in the gap between the filter and the sump, hence bypassing the filter altogether. It seems a diverter or better quality filter baskets (likely both) would help the issueI gave this 2.5 stars given the issues, but this may work for someone who doesn't mind doing some fixing - not something I was interested in doing on a brand new tank. The concept is good, the execution is less so.

JBJ 30 RL with Stand

The product was well packaged by Marinedepot, but, unfortunately, not packaged as well by JBJ, as one of the handles for the media basket was broken, and, the back panel of the stand was damaged also. The tank itself looks good.
