JBJ launches the new OCEANSTREAM™ circulation pumps equipped with magnetic holders and articulating pivot ball. These innovative pumps utilize a unique PaddleDisc™ impeller that diverts water to the perimeter of the housing unlike traditonal propeller based pumps. This ensures maximum "random flow" in wide circular currents that provide gentle water movement without harming corals placed directly within its path.
VERSATILITY
You can choose from our NANO OCEANSTREAM (500 GPH)) for smaller aquariums or our original OCEANSTREAM (1600 GPH) for aquariums up to 100 gallons. Pumps are ideal for fresh or saltwater aquariums.
WAVEMAKER COMPATIBLE
OCEANSTREAM circulation pumps are definitely compatible with our OceanPulse Wavemakers that allow you to configure alternating cycles from 10 seconds to 6 minutes.

I love JBJ products. I have 2 of these 1600s in my 120 mixed reef and a 500 in my frag tank. They give a wide but powerful flow. Bullet proof and affordable for their ratings. I recently purchased another 1600 for my 110 gallon fish tank in my aquaponic system. Their picture shows a pump with a suction cup holder instead of the magnet. I almost didn't purchase it because of this. It arrived with the magnet mount, but I'm afraid they're going to cheap out on us like they did their Tru Temp heaters(they now ship with suction cups instead of magnets). Better stay with the magnets!

It is totally inadequate for my 290 gallon reef.
Nylon connector to it's pedastal broke with the very first adjustment.I should have learned from others mistake as this appears to be a common problem with the product.

I like these powerheads and the flow is great. The screw that attaches the head to the base is cheap and fragile. I can see it breaking very easily and then you are out of luck. It is a design flaw for sure.

I have searched many places for this kind of quality and found no products capable of the job without triple the price tag or a great deal of noise. I have read many product reviews and spoken to a number of aquarius about other products. All of them fail in one of 2 catagories: price (over charging because of a name printed on the side does not make a product better), and quality (the vast majority of powerheads in this same catagory have all been said to either be too noisy or break the shaft within just a couple weeks). Quite, durable, cost effective. I found a product worthy of recommendation.

What a great powerhead! Everything about it is solid, great instructions, packed well, and it does a great job diverting flow. At 1600 gph it creates a great current not a jet stream.
I knocked one star off because the power consumption is 23 watts compared to some competitors but I can't speak on the quality difference.

Good for the $. Connector from mount to ph is really cheap and flimsy. Mine broke while adjusting. Had to super glue it. Not cool. That issue needs to be fixed.

So first let me tell you this pump does do its job, it moves water in one relatively wide stream, but you can't point it to your corals or rock work since the flow is too strong, its great as a current. This PH (Power head) is a bit bulky, so keep that in mind when you purchase it. The second thing that you need to be aware is that the connector between the power head and the magnet on the wet side is FLIMSY and of very LOW quality, mine broke during shipment, but not to worry contacted retailers customer service and right away got a replacement on the way. It still didnt solve the issue that you construction of that particular piece is just bad, so you have to set it up before you get it wet, and once you have it pointed in the direction you want it just let it be. Overall if you cant afford a more expensive PH this one does do the job. Its a great example that you get what you pay for
