Comments: This is a shockingly great canister filter, considering other canister filter which do exactly the same thing, cost twice as much and don't have the UV light on it! Very easy setup, have output going to my refugium and man is this thing silent! You ca also adjust the flow on this filter which I love! Also, the quick disconnect is wonderful. Grest job JBJ! Quality product. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: we had one in Jersey and loved it, moved to Florida and it leaked, so we ordered a new one and that one leaked from the side clamps, Right now we are waiting for another one being shipped from Ca.if this one leaks we will return it and get something local in case something happens. Thanks god we didn't have any fish yet Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: great filter, ultra quiet, super easy to set up. only 2 pumps of the siphon and it was set to go. only real complaint is the hoses it came with were stiff anmd not easy to use. i replaced them with vinyl tubing from lowes. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I am replacing an Eheim that was about five years old and had rusted and leaked in the head where the pump is. This filter was much less expensive and has the UV function as well. It was easy to set up and has been running like a dream in the two weeks since I got it. The water is crystal clear! Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: i have mine running for over a month in my little 30g, and its been doing great. it did make me work hard for a couple of mins with the self-pump. used the uv light once to clear up the water, and it is great works really good. best part is it is really quiet. only thing i didn't like was it doesn't have a on/off switch. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: What can I say??? This filter is AWESOME!!!! It is so quiet i had to do a double take to make sure it was running!! When I first set it up it was leaking all over!! I figured it out and it has been great! The water is crystal clear. The fish look like they are floating in mid air. The built in UV is great, less clutter.. Oh, did I mention this thing is silent? Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: 2 out of 3 of my reaction filters are leaking. Got repeated advice from manufacturer, still leaking. Am looking for alternative filter. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I am using this on a 50 gallon planted and run co2 through it. It is very quiet. I do not get the purging some do with other canisters when running co2. The U.V. light will come in handy, but do not run it during the cycle process or it will take longer to cycle the tank.(says in the instuctions) The pump primer works good, but it takes a little effort. so if your 90 years old you may want fully automatic priming, but the pump does work good and does away with having to syphen. I would not say it is invinsable so take care with parts and it will last a long time. 5 watt U.V. is perfect for a 50 gallon for clarifying water. I do not think it would do as well on a bigger tank than a 50 gallon as far as the uv light goes Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Very easy to setup and after only a week the water is clear; was green. I almost did not purchase because of 1 bad review about UV light switch shorting out, but I can't see how that can happen as it is in a waterproof seal. I do need to contact them about how long you can run the UV light. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have used both Eheim and Fluval in my 20+ years of aquarium keeping. I purchased the JBJ Reaction canister filter to replace an Eheim that had burned a motor due to a snail getting caught in the intake. Here are my thoughts on the JBJ after 1 month of continued use: Pros: Very easy set-up - It was completed in 2 minutes. Literally a true plug and play. The easy start siphon worked perfectly. The air in the hoses disappeared immediatly. The pump is quiet (no sound at all) and well built. I like the line connectors as they swivel with the hoses removing any chance of kinks. The screw type hose connections are a snap to put together - no more heating the hose line! Thanks JBJ for that design. I love everything about this filter. Media is standard supply. Cons: One con which I can look over. The filter is not easy to pick-up for maitenance. There are grooves on the sides but they do not seem big or sturdy enough even in my small hands. This is a minor con, however. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I am pleased say that this is an awesome filter! I was having all kinds of algae problems due to a failed conversion to live plants as well as new lighting when I decided to switch filtration systems. I was running two Magnum 350’s Pro’s on my 75 g freshwater tank when a local pet store mentioned that JBJ was coming out with a new line of canister filters. I had been looking @ the UniMax Pro w/ UV Sterilizer but the pet store didn't have any larger models left. Once he mentioned the JBJ model I went home & did some research and found it for sale online. The JBJ model is very similar to the UniMax Pro but its ½ the price. Since I never owned the UniMax I cannot say how it performs but the Reaction 4-stage is doing a great job on my tank. I bought the largest model since it wasn’t much more than the EFU-35, which might be too much for my size of tank but I’ve always heard that you can never have enough filtration. Anyway right out of the box I realized this baby was huge! Almost 21 inches high. I was concerned that it would not fit under my tank & stand but it did with an inch or two to spare. The media trays are equally as huge so it can store a ton of carbon or whatever else you wish to add. It comes with everything you need but I added some phosphate remover just to help with the algae. Hooked it up and it’s been kicking butt ever since. Algae is way down. Only a little hear and there on the glass that is easily scrapped off. My rocks, driftwood and plants all remain algae free and its been over two weeks. I recommend this to anyone what is looking for a new filter, especially one with UV. However some notes - Canister is very large & is very heavy when filled w/ water. Directions are terrible, they assume that you know what you're doing so they leave a lot of the set up work up to you to figure out. No big deal but some beginners might have some issues. Also not real plesed w/ the spray bar / outtake & intake mechanisms. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: So far I have been very impressed by this filter. Its easy to set up and filters water well. The ability to ad more or less filtration media based on your bio load is cool. I also like that it comes standard with a uv sterilizer. I am running it on my 100 gallon tank Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Very quiet filter it seems like if it was off but really works. Great combination with U.V. Also the pump action to fill the canister. No filling canister up manually all pump baby. light built in. Easy to clean and maintain. Carefull with placing the o-ring it can leak at some parts. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Just set up my tank. Put up a EFU 45 filter. It shots off after 1-15 minutes and then turn back on. Will return them tomorrow and go with Eheim. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I love this filter, and this is coming from someone who hates canisters! I have used Eheim, Fluval, and have tried eberything out there over the past 30 years. I wanted to cut out the noise from my Emperor 400s on a 150 gal show tank. This filter is exceptionally easy to set up, the media trays fit together well, it primed in about 15 seconds, and it is absolutely silent. Quick disconnect lever, on/off UV switch, no problems, and I am buying another. Highly recommend. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: The filter has four large trays which can be configured with one's choice of filter media. The filter media supplied with the filter is a minimal amount, but sufficient to get started. To fill the canister, additional media needs to be purchased. The filter keeps the water crystal clear; and all water parameters (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, pH, etc.) perfect. As another reviewer noted, the pump ran intermittently out of the box. The manufacturer, JBJ Lighting, send out a replacement cap assembly via overnight delivery. All works as expected now. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Initially I thought this unit would work out for me. But after less than 6 weeks operation. the switch to the uv lamp failed sparked and flamed around the switch when I tried to turn it on. I smelled a strong burn smell afterwards and unplugged it. I have to give this unit a thumbs down!! I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I used this on a saltwater reef tank that has been up and running for over 3 years. Setup was easy and from the looks of it the maintenance should be pretty easy thanks to the quick disconnect feature. A couple things concern me about this unit, and only time will tell: -Availability of replacement media, i.e. floss, carbon, UV -durability of the unit -availability of replacement parts (motor, impeller, etc) Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Looked like a great product on paper, but... the manual pictures were blurry and hard to read. A rubber o-ring was ripped coming out of the box. And the motor cuts out every 20 minutes. I plan to return it tomorrow. I would not recommend this product to my friends.
