Comments: I had 4 magnetic ballast for my 250w bulbs, the light was ok but the tem the magnetic ballast created put my temp in the 28.6 C!!! got these installed and the temp droped to 25C!!!!!!!! the light out pul looks the same, but I hope to see a nice low electric bill next month!! Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I replaced my ballast on my Odyssea and the result is flawless. A previous review said he had issues with install due to the resin filled cord. I'm not sure what he/she was speaking of - my install was a 5 minute one if that w/ no issues whatsoever. The result? Perfect output, stays relatively cool, no hum, softstart and full output w/in maybe 40 seconds. Should have done this a year ago. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: These ballasts fired my 250W Radium bulbs quickly, without any hum, and the bulbs burn that crips light blue hue that a majority of aquariast love. Others have commented on how cool their ballast runs, mine run pretty warm to the touch, borders on hot to the touch. They have a build in heat sink on three sides and come with rubber feet to elevate off a flat surface. I am very impressed with them so far though. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: After extensive online research, I decided to try these Lumatek 250w 120v E-Ballasts among a few other options in the same price range. Upon initial visual inspection, the Lumateks appear to be a nicely built, high quality product. These ballasts fired up my bulbs silently and immediately. My old electronic ballasts would whine and hum as it attempted to fire my bulbs, taking anywhere from 1-2 minutes. These ballasts also maintained its silence due to being fan-less, but run a bit hotter than my previous ballasts with built-in fans. Using a temperature gun, the Lumateks run at approximately 50 degrees Celsius. I didn’t have a par meter, but to the naked eye, my bulbs appear to be slightly brighter. Bottom-line, these ballasts are a great bang-for-your-buck product, especially at the sales price of $109.99, which includes a nice 5 year warranty. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This was replacing an older magnetic ballast, the Mag ballast was quiet and still working, just wanted to try a electronic ballast and move the mag ballast to the back up stage. It was a huge impovement on brighteness overall. It is quiet as a church mouse. 2 weeks running and great so far. hoping to curve the electric bill and run cooler with 220v. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This is a high quality ballast that's exceeded my expectations. The aluminum housing is anodized a handsome purple that just looks great. The size of the ballast makes it easy to place and there is zero noise, little heat (warm to the touch only) and simple mounting brackets. Included cables (both AC power and 15' lamp cable) are high quality and moisture proof. 5 year warranty is the icing on the cake. If you are still using std ballasts anywhere, don't wait, switch to digital now! Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I upgraded from an old fashioned ballast to this and am very happy. My old one buzzed loudly towards the end and you could hear it turning on throughout the house. Comments: I upgraded my Current USA Outer Orbit ballast with these and the diffrence is almost night and day. Huge light intensity and runs very well. One of the best investments I have mad in lighting. I also campared this ballast to a PFO HQI and could not see a diffrence and used 50 less watts. Give it a try, you'll like the results. Comments: I had my original 2 of 3 Ballast's burn-up within minutes of turning them on (cheap). These new ballast's turned the 250watt lights on super fast and they put the remaining old unit to shame in color and brightness. I had a spill from the tank hit one unit and it tripped the GFCI outlet, but after I opened it up and let it dry the unit came right back on and has been working perfect. This is the one to get. Also very little heat. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Lumatek 250W - Best Buy! by Andy

Comments: I added this 250W ballast to an existing set up with a 600W ballast in a horticultural greenhouse. Lumatek makes the best ballast in my opinion. Completely silent and light weight. Although they run very cool, I run a small fan across them. MarineDepot's price was the best by far and their service was exceptional. Pay attention to the bulb your running - the ballast is recommended for HPS or MH only. I had to do a bit of research with Lumatek and Iwasaki. The Iwasaki 6500K bulb for reef tanks is actually a Mercury Vapor retrofit and neither Iwasaki nor Lumatek recommend the combination (although it may work). I won't hesitate to shop MarineDepot again. You can't beat their prices or service. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I was skeptical by the claim that it makes your bulbs burn brighter than other ballast, but sure enough when I replaced my old tar/magnet ballast with these my bulbs actually burn brighter. They also start up much softer than the pulse start needed on my old ballast. They do run warmer than I expected, about as hot as my old ballast so give them plenty of ventalation or put a small fan on them. I also question the claim to RF shielded output wires. When I cut back the ends to install them I didn't see any shielding. But overall and excellent product. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I replaced a standard HID magnetic ballast and cannot tell the difference in bulb color. This ballast runs silent and is only warm to the touch; it will not burn your hand like a magnetic ballast. The ballast fires the bulbs faster than the magnetic and consumes less electricity. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: My reef tank was initially set up with EVC ballasts. When one failed, I was unable to find a replacement. I was pleased to find the the Lumatek was the same size as the EVC, so I was able to mount it, plug it in, and it was ready to go. The Lumatek costs about the same as the EVC and has the advantage of a power cord that can be unplugged from the body of the ballast. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I own a 250w PFO HQI ballast and I have to say that this Lumatek 250w/ 120v ballast illuminates my bulbs a little brighter. So far the price is unbeatable for how great the Lumatek performs. You get all your moneys worth and more. IMO this is the best ballast out there for any HQI bulb you plan on using. I can't imagine how the 400w looks? Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I've only had these running for a few days now, but so far everything looks great. The ballast runs fairly cool and hopefully will prolong the life of my bulb as well as save a little money each month compared to other ballasts. The connected lamp cord is plenty long enough at 15ft. No on/off switch, but not a big deal, just connect to a timer. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I ordered 2 of these to replace my underpowered stock Odyssea ballasts. Both have fired my bulbs flawlessly and gotten them to full burn in less than half the time. Resin filled aluminum housing only gets mildly warm even in the semi-confined space I have them mounted. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was due to the fact that the stock output power cord was encased in resin inside the housing making it impossible to solder in my fixture's breakaway cord for a clean installation. If you plan on hard wiring this directly to your socket this is not a problem but if you are using this for a prebuilt fixture with breakaway connectors you will have to find a compatable connector or put new ends on both ballast and light fixture. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I got this ballast to replace an older magnetic ballast. Right away, I noticed several big differences. First is that it is whisper quiet! No annoying humming sound. When it turns on, there is a barely audible click, and that is it. Second is that it runs MUCH cooler than any other MH ballast that I have owned. This includes other electronic ballasts!! After running for several hours, it is only warm to the touch. Last is the bulb brightness. The bulbs DO run brighter than with a standard ballast. My corals are loving it!! I would recommend this product to ANYONE who is serious about giving their corals the BEST light! The price is right and the product can't be beat. I will be buying this brand from now on to replace all my ballasts! Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
