Manufacturer Info

Mag-Float Aquarium Supplies
Mag-Float is owned by Gulfstream Tropical Aquarium, a South Florida business established in 1964. Originally the company`s focus was distributing live brine shrimp, ghost shrimp, blackworms, frozen fish food, live phytoplankton, live feeders freshwater fish and aquatic plants. The company`s signature product line, patented Mag-Float floating magnet aquarium cleaners, were named the most innovative invention in the aquatic industry in 2000. The following year the company began distributing their products nationally and internationally. More recently the company unveiled a line of fresh and saltwater aquarium water conditioners, treatments and buffers under the moniker Mag-Float Labs and introduced the Mag-Flip, a magnet aquarium cleaner with a scraper for more stubborn algae.

Lite duty

I keep buying these blades hoping they do a better job on my glass Aquarium. I end up using a razor blade for the hard algae. The blade is plastic, it should clean algae right? I would love to glue a razor to it.

safer than a blade?

I've used the scraper, the magfloat with a razor and now the Mag-Flip. The Mag-Flip works very well on newly grown algae on the glass but not as well as the razor on the established algae. I keep running the scraper over the little bumps hoping it will work and maybe it will. There is no rust to worry about and no worries about scraping the glass. I recommend it with the caveat that it may take more time and work to get off the harder algae than it does with the razor.

Low Profile Scraper

Pros: Cool dual-side in-tank flip action! Mag-Flips slim design lets in get in the tighter places. Plus, it has quite a good bit of magnetic pull to do a decent job on a 120g tank. Cons: Wet side does not float, I have had to chase after it a few times. The plastic scrapers only lasts so long and are not near as efficient as a razor blade. I would certainly purchase another mag-flip if the need ever arrises, however I wish that they could improve the scraper blade design for use on harder material such as corline algae.

Makes It Easy

After using all other methods I tried this product. I LOVE IT!! No matter how long the glass has waited for me to clean it, this scraper gets it spotless with minimal effort.

Mag Flip Acrylic

Works much better than I expected. Doesn't get off the really hard algae, but does a pretty good job overall.

Does scrape coraline kinda but does not compare to a Kent scraper in hand and elbow grease
