Comments: I attempted to calibrate the device with distilled water and it was reading below the zero line. I couldn't adjust it enough to read zero with the adjustment screw backed all the way out. Sent back and upgraded to the pro.

Comments: The refractometer performs as expected but if you need glasses to read the lines may be too small unless you are in front of a very bright light. I do like the fact that I have a much better idea of my tank's specific gravity than with an hydrometer. Overall excellent value and quality.

Comments: My first refractometer, but found it easy to use. Recalibration with distilled water confirmed it was already calibrated out of the box. It confirmed I was adding too much salt to my water changes. Time to put the old floating hydrometer behind the glass case with all the other museum pieces.

Comments: I used the traditional Hydrometer for many years and kept my salt level between 1.024 to 1.026. Today, I got my first Refractometer. I calibrated it and tested my salinity level immediately... I was shocked to find out that my salinity level is 1.030! I highly recommend this product and I would never, ever use a Hydrometer again!

Comments: After fighting with getting air bubbles off the arm of my Instant Ocean (plastic) Hydrometer - my water salinity always seemed to be "OK" in and around 1.023 to 1.025 (32-34PPT). I decided one day to take a sample of my water to the LFS for testing and almost fell on the floor when I was told my Sailinity was around 1.030 (40PPT). I immediately started 2 gallon FW swaps to get it down. The Refractometer was easy to calibrate and use. GET ONE ASAP!

Comments: I found the Refractometer very easy to use and accurate. I used a cheap plastic hydrometer before with huge swings in the readings. But now I have no problem.

Comments: It comes in a really nice hard plastic case and is very well made. It is sturdy and heavy- definitely not cheapy. I barely had to calibrate it at all when I first got it. It does an amazing job and is easy to read.

Comments: I am very new to keeping a saltwater aquarium. This has to be the easiest tool I have ever used. When "reading" the directions on how to use this I didn't really read them I just looked at the pictures and it did what it showed that it would do.
