Cheap efficient flow

I have been using these powerheads for about 15 years. In that time I have replaced them 3 times, not because they broke but they were too cruddy and I'm too lazy to clean them up. They are very inexpensive so replacing them is not too much of an issue. My tank in a 90 gal reef with sps, lps, and fish. This creates plenty of flow and I have not had any adverse outcomes due to them. The only thing I would recommend is to buy the optional magnetic holder for them as the suction cups figuratively sucks.

As Powerhead Yes, Pump No

I at first bought several of these to act as return pumps from my sump to my tank but the amount of power each of these gave left something to desire. But once I put them in the main tank to boost circulation, you could feel the current even 36" inches away from the Powerhead. I recommend this as a circulation pump but not as a utility pump.

Not as Good as the Old One

I tried to get this as a replacement for my Remora Pro Skimmer and it makes a horrible horrible sound. I googled it and looks like everyone is having this problem as well. Do NOT buy this. Contacting store for a return and refund. I haven't tried it but the Cobalt 1200 is supposed to work as well on the Skimmer. I was lucky that I found an old model of a Maxijet 1200 pump in my collection and am able to use that.

Powerhead feature doesn't work

When assembled as a powerhead, freezes up often, have to thump the assembly to get the impeller going and usually makes a racket in the tank until i have adjusted it. Cheap is what you get.

Always reliable

I have purchased many MJ1200 pumps throughout my aquarium hobby career and have never been disappointed. They are sturdy, reliable, consistent and affordable. I bought two of these for my JBJ28 nano to swap out the stock return pumps. These run much quieter at 10% more flow. As always, thank you MarineDepot for the great service.

idk if its even worth the cost

Noisy with the powerhead mod. If you pull the large impeller apart, and put a tiny piece of tube on the shaft between the two white pieces, it creates a little resistance to help it not rattle. downside is then it struggles to start once submerged. this thing wants nothing else but to start in reverse. IF you can get it quiet and running, it seems good as long as you never turn it off. They also get warm and slightly heat the surrounding water, Lots of current draw with powerhead impeller. Added three and now the 80 gallon system runs a degree warmer

Good, but not for your tank

Setting up my 55g and purchased a couple for cost reasons. Thought they were fine until I purchased A Hydor Koralia to replace one. The Hydor is a far superior pump with a less intrusive flow that my fish love. My Marineland pumps are now used for water transfer which is much better suited for them. Hydor in your tank is the way to go!
