I've struggled to find a workable powerhead solution for my 240 display tank which is made of 1 inch acrylic. This is the only solution I found that would stay in place. Works great and handles running the XF150 turned all the way up (not that I would do that normally). Great product for a thick walled tank.

Stronger than stock

I have four of the Maxspect 150's in a 400g display tank. The glass is 3/4" The magnets that come with these gyres are probably fine for 1/2" or 5/8" glass, but are a bit weak for 3/4" If you try to slide the gyre by moving the outside magnet, the pump will fall off on the water side, which could turn it into a blender if it contacts coral.
I replaced the magnets with the Reinforced Magnet Kit. They are stronger and do hold better than the originals. The peace of mind knowing that the gyre won't go flying off the glass is worth the extra cost.
I removed the pads from the inner magnets in order to gain an additional 1/16". The pad really serves no use, because the rubber device that holds the magnet to the gyre has it's own pad that rests against the glass.
Simple instructions should be included in the box, or have Maxspect offer a video on changing out the magnets.
