Milwaukee Seawater Digital Refractometer with Protective Hardshell Case

The new Milwaukee MA887 Seawater Digital Refractometer encompasses 3 different types of user selected scales for the measurement of seawater providing for a much more precise evaluation. Each scale is temperature compensated.

1. PSU – The newest type scale standard – Letters stand for Practical Salinity Units and is fast become the universal standard for seawater measurement

2. ppt – The old standard of Parts Per Thousand of saturated salt. This is the oldest of the 3 seawater measurements scales

3. S.G. The current standard of Specific Gravity hydrometers and refractometers.

The digital refractometer eliminates the uncertainty associated with mechanical refractometers and is easily portable.

Simple and easy to use! Samples are measured after a simple user calibration with steam-distilled water (do not use RO or RO/DI water for calibration). Within seconds, the refractive index and temperature are measured and converted in to one of three popular measurement units. Temperature is also displayed on the large dual-level display.

The Milwaukee Instruments MA887 digital refractometer is easy to calibrate and easy to read and provides highest accuracy possible for the measurement of seawater 3 specific scales. This is the type of accuracy demanded by today’s professionals and Milwaukee Instruments delivers.

Excellent product

I have used a refractometer and a swing arm device as well. Nothing is as easy and accurate as this. It's really a plug and play device. I would never be without it now that I have used it. Well worth the money for any level user. This is the only way you should measure your salinity!

Great investment

Very first test showed that my reef tank was running at 1.030 and not the 1.026 as my hydrometer has been telling me for three years. Now without a doubt I can expand my aquarium hobby further with piece of mind. I even double checked it with my local lfs.

It's big.

The digital refractometer is certainly easy to use and read, but it could be better in two ways. 1) It's huge, which makes storing and manipulating it with one hand (like you would with a standard refractometer) difficult. 2) It's precision is no better (and a little worse than the MD Pro refractometer). It reads salinity in whole numbers (34, 35, etc) and SG down to only thousandths (1.028). Seems like for the cost you should get another digit of significance. It's main selling point is it's digital, albeit low resolution, display.

Milwaukee Refractomete

This is another winner which takes the guess work out of reading salt water salinity. By pushing two buttons (on/off and read button) you get an instant accurate reading which takes the sample temperature in consideration. You probably want to also get the carrying case as part of the package deal, I did.
