Neptune Systems

The Lunar Simulator Module (LSM) allows the AquaController to control and vary the intensity to a 2 to 5 LSM Lunar LED String for a realistic moon cycle simulation. The moonrise and set times follow the true lunar cycle. LSM Lunar LED strings sold separately.

Note: Neptune Apex AquaController is needed to be able to use the LED lunar system.

Moonlight in the ocean is believed to be as significant as the time spent in full daylight. Moonlight triggers various internal and external biological activities among the many thousands of reef organisms. Moonlight LEDs for your aquarium emulate that cycle and as a bonus help you to observe your tank in the nighttime hours without disturbing our startling your fish and other creatures.

Features of the Lunar Simulator include:

  • The AquaController dims the LEDs in phase with the true lunar cycle.
  • Up to 240 AquaBus modules can be added to the Apex system.
  • Plug and Play. Automatically recognized when installed into the system.
  • Two AquaBus connectors for flexible expansion via AquaBus
  • Led Status Indicator
  • Upgradeable firmware.
  • Compatible with all Apex systems.
  • Includes with 3` AquaBus cable.
  • LEDs not included; Neptune Systems LED String sold separately

Disappointing

I purchased the LSM add-on for my Apex controller almost 3 years ago. I installed the LSM into my system and it ran for a few months before it failed. After some brief troubleshooting with Neptune systems I returned it for warranty repair. It is important to note that the customer pays for shipping to LSM whether or not it is under warranty. My LSM was returned about 10 days later and was still dead out of the box. Neptune Systems insisted the device was working when it left their facility and had me once again pay to send it back. About 2 weeks later it was returned to me but at this point I had lost complete interest in the unit and it sat in its original box at my house for almost 2 years. About a month ago I decided to give it another try. Just like the first time, it ran for only a short time and failed. I decided to contact Neptune Systems support about the issue and after some more unsuccessful troubleshooting they had me pay to ship it to them a third time. Since the unit is now out of warranty they want $80 to fix something which costs $100 new. Between three shipments and now this third repair I effectively bought the unit twice. I would strongly advise against purchasing this product. The LED’s are not particularly bright and it clearly has reliability issues. I am giving this device two stars instead of one because of my own failure to stay on top of Neptune Systems while it was still under warranty and how their support is very responsive. I own the Apex controller with lab grade pH and ORP probe, two PM2 modules, two EB8’s, one EB4 and the new AFS module. None of those devices has proved to be this unreliable. I am just sorry the LSM module ended up being a dud. There are many other options for lunar lighting and you would be better off just controlling it through the Energy Bar.

fantastic

I purchased a set of the 4 lunar lights for my 90 gallon System. They are a perfect set of lighting to see things in my tank in the early evening. They are extremely bright. When it says one bulb covers a for foot area, they are not lying! I wasn't sure when I ordered them that 2 was going to be enough so I got the 4. I run them at 100% when the lights first cut off and it's almost that 450 lunar look, then they are down to 10% after 90 minutes and I can still see critters without it being too bright for them .
