I am changing from halides/PC's to LEDs, and have "easy" corals, soft mostly. I installed some "auxillary" lighting in addition to Marineland type LED light bars, and I wanted them to be simple to install and to direct the lighting, since it was for accent lighting. Doesnt get much easier than just screwing in a lightbulb! At first I was disappointed, as other reviewers said, they are not very bright. For the money, I'd never use them for the main lighting. HOWEVER, after moving them around, I find they are very attractive accent lights, though a bit expensive. The blue and UV LEDs really bring out some nice colors in the corraline algae, and the corals. If they last as long as claimed, I guess they will be an OK investment....

Cons:
-Price
-light dispersion (2'w x 2'h x 6'l tank)
Pros:
-uv leds adds effects not found in most other leds
Currently have 2 of these with 4 other similar leds on a 180Gal tank. Overall I am please with these, but feel the lenses should be tweaked a little to disperse the light a little wider. If your water is crystal clear you will need about 1 bulb/2 sq. ft. of tank.

Replaced this bulb with a cheaper 20k Ecoxotic. Not worth it for the price. The bulb was high quality, but the LED's seem to be very dim. I tested on a separate socket without much improvement. If it had been brighter in relation to the number of LED's it would be perfect. Exocotic LED with half the LED is just as bright. My observations are purely objective, hope someone can measure the output with a PAR meter.

I didn't exactly get this for an aquarium, I got it to light a terrarium full of carnivorous plants, and as far as that is concerned, it's amazing. There's growth like I've never seen before, and if I were to use LED's on a 40 gallon reef or below, this would be the way I'd go. Sadly, I'm not sure it would be as effective to use on my 55 reef, though. They aren't exactly cheap, and it would take 3-4. Overall, I'm thrilled with them.

no very bright, you will need atleast two for even a nano tank ~24g. too expensive upfront to get light that looks good to the eye. good for a little extra lighting. return.

These LED pendants are great for smaller tanks, probably for ~50 gallons or less. They're a fairly cheap way to get into LED lighting, and they're made by Orphek so high quality and you get their diodes. I used a Home Depot light fixture, but Ikea makes a lot that would work as well.
