This parabolic reflector is designed to mount perpendicular to the front of the tank. It is made with 95% reflective aluminum and will put about 40% more light into the tank than a standard flat sheet of reflective metal. Now the same bulb/ballast combo appears about twice as bright in the tank. Holding this reflector next to a Tek reflector, the difference in 'reflectivity' seems minor. Not quite as bright as the Tek, but money well spent anyway. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
