Description
Medic is a highly effective treatment for external fish parasites present in both marine and freshwater environments. It contains an antibiotic component and a reef-safe oxidizing agent that work together to help eliminate parasites. It is particularly effective against:
Marine Ich -
Crytpocaryon irritans
Freshwater Ich -
Ichthyophthirius multifiliis
Marine Velvet -
Amyloodinium ocellatum
Features:
Completely reef-safe
Does not harm invertebrates
Does not harm nitrifying bacteria
Buffered to maintain physiological pH
How Medic works: Many external fish parasites have very similar life cycles. In particular, these parasites have an ""attached"" stage (trophonts), a ""matured"" stage (protomonts), a ""reproductive"" stage (tomonts), and a ""free-swimming"" stage (theronts/dinospores). Most available treatments do not target the free-swimming stage of the parasite which is one of the primary difficulties in dealing with these infections.
Research with ciliated protozoans has shown that the ""free-swimming"" stage of these parasites have remarkably consistent hatching times. We have engineered our medication to be most efficient during this stage.
Our medication targets the trophont stage of the parasite but is also very effective in disrupting the life cycle during the ""free-swimming"" stage. Thus, when using the medication, hobbyists should try to maintain the highest concentration of the medication during this ""free-swimming"" timeframe - when the oxidative component in the medication is particularly effective against theronts/dinospores.
Active Ingredients: Metronidazole, Peroxide acids.
Will treat approximately 550G of system volume.

Over the past 2 years that I've had this product. I've used it on 4 separate occasions. The first time I used it, there were still a few ich spots after 10 days. When I contacted polyp labs, they told me to run it for another 10 days at double dosage and all ich spots went away after 4 or 5 days. The 3 other times I've used it, I put in a double dosage right away and the ich has cleared around the 1 week mark. They say it is fully reef safe still so i dunno why they don't just tell us to do a double dosage right off the bat. IMO it works very well at double strength but there is a LOT of the powder in the bottle so I have no problems with that. I have over 1/2 the bottle left after 4 treatments
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments:
I have a 180 dsb reef tank ,with protien skimmer and red sea uv ocean canister filter this summer my tank temp was 84 to 88 degrees and my powder blue started flagging, the other fish all have some degree of immunity to ick but eventually all where flagging at different times, they never stoped eating . i used this product according to directions and the infection subsided and all the fish and inverts are fine . The powder blue had some ick again after the last week heat wave. i will now use the product again at double dose i would reccomend this product since it prevented a disater and controled the ick population luke the powed blue was extremly infested i had to wait for the product to arrive while the diease progressed
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
