While it is very blue, and very pretty in my aquarium, the "shimmering" effect is completely absent from this light. Unless they are assuming I have a lot of surface current to produce the shimmer these are just constant lights. I would also recommend some sort of white light to blend into the LEDs to make them not so blue. They are also very direct light and could use some sort of diffuser so you don't see the LED penetration into the water. I will probably be building a canopy for my tank in the next month or so and will try to make a diffuser for the moonlights to help with the LED light penetration.

I have had this light for some time now. The Shiny Chrome exterior is now rusted and discolored. The led bulbs failed a few at a time and now are all completely failed. I still like the basic design of this light and plan on rebuilding it with Stainless steel and new LEDs.

I purchased the 36" strip. It looked good when it was fully working. Which sadly didn't last long. Within months a portion of the led's went out. And within I would say 10 months to a year the entire strip was not lighting up at all.
But while it was working, I enjoyed it. I didn't expect anything close to actual moonlight simulation, considering the fairly cheap price. I just wanted a soft blue-ish glow to show the shimmering effect at night. And this product does that. Some reviewers have complained about being able to see each individual beam of light from the led's. Yes, you can see them. But it is really only noticeable if you are very close. I had it on a 46 gal bowfront saltwater and from 10-15' away it looked nice. The led's brightness easily reached the tank's sandbed. The beams of light are still slightly visible from afar. But only for a very short distance down into the water, and then the light is dispersed evenly. If you expect maximum led dispersion from a product without being able to see each beam of light at the water's surface, DON'T BUY THIS! I didn't expect that from this for the price I paid. This product is great for the casual beginner to intermediate fishkeeper. If you don't mind seeing little beams of light a few inches down into the water then this product may be for you.
If mine still worked I would give this 5 star...But it broke within months. Maybe I unfortunately received a defective strip. Because other reviewers have seemed to have had better luck with theirs working longer. So if you want to take a chance, buy it. It does what it says. But for how long?

Well it worked well but after 9 months half the unit stopped lighting & blinking. I am looking at getting different moon lights. I wouldn't get this again.

Quality product that is easy to install. Wish the LED's spread the light a little better. The LED's send vertical columns of light in the water that could be managed better with better reflective geometry. The fish seem to really enjoy the light.

Great light that covers my 90 gallon reef, but is really bright. Some of my fish wont go to sleep because of it. I am trying ways of covering up the LED's to dim the lighting. Other than that, shipping was fast and a great purchase for the price.
