My tank was infested with Aiptasia. There were literally at least 1000 in my tank. I took a bottle of this and started nuking them, and I would have to say it worked. The larger ones seem to have made it through the first dose (they have folded up into a little nub) but I am going to try it again and see if they can make it through two dosings. I would have to tell you that this stuff does KILL CORALLINE algae so I'm not sure what effect it would have if it got on SPS corals.

Comments:
This is the most effective Aiptasia control I have used. I suspect that those who down rate this product are not meticulously following the instructions. Review the video instructions to verify your technique. I also found that it is important to use a new syringe with each bottle, other wise you may find that the old one requires too much pressure to gently apply the solution to the retracted Aiptasia. Finally the cost per bottle is very reasonable.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

I have been battling aiptaisa on my live rock and coral for months. The problem has gotten way outta control, so I decided to try aipatasia x. Although it isn't a paste like other products I've tried, it works really well in stopping the little suckers in their tracks. You definitely get more bang for your buck-unlike other products which require purchasing several bottles to take on any aquarium infested with aiptasia or majano anenomes. The only bad thing is you do have to continue to purchase more product until the problem is completely eradicated.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments:
After reading all the 5 star reviews above about how great this stuff was, I decided to give it a try. I only had a half dozen or so aiptasia that I could find in my tank. I dosed all the ones I could see and it *seemed* to work. But it didn't take long for another aiptasia (or the same one) to reappear in the same spot. The best test I found was a large aiptasia that appeared in my sump. It was about an inch and half long. Since it was in a spot I could easily see on the clear sump wall, it made for a great test subject. I dosed it with Aiptasia-X and watched it curl up and appear to die. After a few days it was just a little spot spot on the acrylic. However a few days more and it had already started to regrow. It doesn't look like this stuff can *completely* kill the pests. It may set them back a little bit but any remaining part of the animal can regrow as far as I can tell.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Just started a new saltwater tank, and unfortunately my live rock had 1 aptasia, that I could see, So I tried to inject it with lemon juice, but it didn't work, so I then ordered the aptasia X and after one try, It killed it!!! Finally!! I suctioned up the leftover product, it stays in globs so that it can be suctioned up if you want to. But you can just leave it in. I'm really pleased with this product. I just hope I don't ever have to use it again. Thanks, so much!!!!

I've gone through 2 bottles already. The fact of the matter is that it doesn't prevent aiptasia from reproducing at the product claims. Does it kill aiptasia? Yes, it does (although not as well as Joe's Juice). But after a week or so, my tank is covered with them suckers again. This thing is like drug, I have to use a bottle a month for every single month just to keep the aiptasias under control. The good thing about Aiptasia-X compared to Joe's Juice is that you get 3 times the amount (60mL vs 20mL). So far, I have not been successful in getting rid of the aiptasia in my tank. I went the shrimp route and that didn't work either. I really don't want to get nudibranches or fishes to get rid of them. And I can't just keep buying Joe's Juice or Aiptasia-X. I think I should just stick to using kalk. It's a lot cheaper and is just as effective.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

The product does kill aiptasias, but for about a week afterwards, there is a powdery looking film that stay on the surface of the water that you have to skim off. I'm not sure if this is from the dead aiptasias or the product. It would be nice to know. But otherwise, it does the trick! Thanks, Carol

I have used Joe's Juice and what they do not tell you is the "sliming" that Aiptasia's do when using that product is actually spreading more around through their plantaria (sp)or spawn. The beauty of this product is that it tricks the Aiptasia into eating this stuff and then it "glues" their mouth shut and they either implode or just shrivel and disappear. I heartily recommend this product. I only had one large Aiptasia UNTIL I used the other product..then I had them everywhere. Now I have none. Thanks Red Sea for another great product!

I put off using the Red Sea Aiptasia due to several 100 small glass anemones. It actually took me longer to read the directions than to adminster the first syringe. The anemones were extremely small and I just covered many setions of the live rock. The rock was also covered in mushrooms, none of which were affected. Wish I had found and used the product sooner before the anemones had destroyed so much coral. The product also worked on the smaller bubble tip anemones that were also overcrowding my corals. HIGHLY recommend as an easy solution for a healthy tank.

This stuff works great! The applicator tube stimulates the aptasia to take in the product and they implode right before your eyes. It is gentle on my hard and soft corals. but a death wish for the aptasia. It also works great on majano.(sp)The brittle star fish are not happy with it however and tend to remove themselves from the area while I am using it.

I had tried Joe's Juice but the Aiptasia always come back. I thought this product might be more effective, but after using it a few weeks I don't think it is any more effective than Joe's Juice. I tried injecting aiptasia with lemon juice, bought peppermint shrimp, nothing worked. I tried Aiptasia-X and it worked amazingly well. I wiped out about 25-30 aiptasia in 15 minutes (in a 20 gal reef tank). Most imploded and died within seconds. A few didn't completely implode but a second application wiped out those that remained. It's been a week and none of my corals, fish or invertebrates were affected at all. And the aiptasia are gone! I HIGHLY recommend this product.

I have used both chemical and natural methods, and this product has given me the best results. If you have a severe over population do not treat the entire tank, as pH will suffer. I have also noticed that any excess left on rock will damage coraline growth, much like Kalk. Turn off pumps, a steady hand, and watch them implode!

I am very pleased with this product. If you spook the little bugger it will not take in the product, it just makes him mad. If you put the tip just into the tentacles and let it wrap around the syringe as if it is feeding it will take it in and POOF!!! he's gone. Do not drink coffee before this procedure as a steady hand is necessary. I have used this in my 40 gal reef with absolutley no ill effects from corals or fish.

Works just as advertised. Turn off your pumps, put some on the oral disk, let stand for 10 min. Then enjoy the implosion. For the tiny ones it is best to cover the whole area. The stuff it made so the pest nem thinks it is food so I found that squirting some to the tip before getting close helps the little nems "want" it.

I've used this product several times over several months. At first it seems to work. Then, after a week or two, there's an explosion of Aiptasia all over the tank. At first i had a few, now they are on everything (power heads, clam, all over the rock, etc.) Maybe I have bad luck but I'm very careful about trying to get the gunk into the mouth of the Aiptasia. I figure it spits out the planulae anyway. Also, the day after one application my healthy beautiful 6 line wrasse died. Since it has a tendency to poke around the rock for food I suspect he ate some of it and it killed him. I saw my fire fish eat a small bit, but he survived. The next time my dendrophylia almost died. Even though I was careful to vacuum up left over gunk. I won't use this stuff again. I'll try the natural method of Berghia sea slugs.

The anemone would always withdraw only to reappear a month later bigger and healthier than ever. One application of Aiptasia-X and several hours later they were gone. Not withdrawn, but GONE! Just a bundle of goo with an anemone foot attached floating by in the current. I am really sold on this product!

I bought 2 bottles because I had tons of these pests (hundreds). I still have some of the first bottle and It killed all that I could see with one application. Follow the directions. I did use an applicator that I had from another product so I could administer it slowly because the one that came with is seamed to eject the product a little to quick. This is WONDERFUL to kill Aiptasia. Super easy to use with the curved applicator tip. Kills the Aiptasia immediately and you don't have to extract the Aiptasia after treatment. Haven't had any problems with my fish. I purchased a tank that was loaded with Aiptasia and I don't have ANY now. I wouldn't live without it because you can easily pick hitchhikers up without knowing it. A MUST HAVE for any salt water aquarium.

Best stuff for Aiptasia

I've tried everything else, kalk, lemon juice, boiling water, boiling lemon juice etc.... Nothing worked. This stuff works better than anything else. I would not say it is 100% effective as I have seen some come back, but it is effective on many. The applicator "sticks" and as a result too much shoots out and the aiptasia will pull back, but if you can get the applicator to slowly dispense the paste they will ingest it and implode. I wish there was a long applicator so reaching the bottom of the tank wasn't as difficult, but otherwise a really good product.

The product is good, but in many instances you have to hit the aiptasia over and over again for them to actually die. The applicator is useless, it shoots out a giant blast everytime I try to use it. Get some medical syringes, they work much better.

I guess I have some superman strain of aiptasia because this stuff didn't work first try, or 2nd try for that matter, on a couple of the larger ones in my tank. I just squirted them with a lot for the 3rd treatment so hopefully this go around will work. Also, for users with small tanks beware; this stuff defnitely causes an alkalinity spike if you use to much at once. Use sparingly if possible and dont treat to many at once.

I had some pretty large Aiptasia -- not many but some were getting big. After reading various articles and ways to deal with these guys -- I decided to try Red Sea Aiptasia-X. This stuff works great and is easy to use. I nailed a few very close to my hammer coral and one next to my clam -- absolutely no harm done to any of them nor anything else in my tank.

Great product!!! I've tried chem marine and Joe's juice before. This product is 10 times better. Chem Marine was hard to apply. Needed an 18 gauge needle and if you didn't inject just right, the aiptasia lived. I used two whole bottles and still had numerous aiptasia in my tank. Then I tried Joe's juice. It worked a little better. The larger aiptasia needed 2-3 applications. This product however killed my angel fish which I have had for 9 years. I saw it eat the Joe's juice and got very sick and pale. It recovered the first time. A month later, I thought I'd try it again, hoping my angel fish would avoid it. It ate it again but this time, it died during the night. Red sea is easy to use with the great curved applicator. The aiptasia don't shrink away from it. One good shot kills them immediately. The 2 oz bottle goes a long way.

We have a 90gal at my job that has an infestation ofaiptasia. I have used some of the other removal products with very little success. Aiptasia-X has been the best so far.I like the ease of application. You just spread it on and not have to inject the product.I also like that the needle locks on to the syringe. This stuff really works well especially on the small aiptasia. I found that on the larger ones like with nickle size heads a second application took care of them. I think that this is one of if not the best Aiptasia Eliminator out there. Thanks RED SEA

I bought aiptasia-x after watching the demo on red sea's main website. Just like the product claims, it works on the aiptasia without hurting anything in the tank, and is easy to see where it's going when it turns into a milky product in the water. I have a 34 gallon reef tank, and had a outbreak of aiptasia starting, and this product took care of every single one I tried it on. This might sound crazy, but I kept two decent looking aiptasia, because of the beautiful colors. I know this will sound crazy to anyone that has had to deal with an horrible outbreak of these buggers. Yet, my tank is now free of the pests except for the little two on a piece of live rock. I would definitely buy this product again in a heartbeat. Plus, for such a new product Marine Depot was the only place I found that had it in stock and at a very resonable price, and with fast shipping. Thanks so much!

Of all the aiptasia products I have ever used, this is definitely the best. It works exactly as described. The aiptasia don't attempt to withdraw, and it kills them quickly. I doubt that anyone with a significant infestation will ever kill them all, as I some are probably out of sight and some are very tiny. But until there is a systemic aiptasiacide that you add to the water, this is the stuff I'll be using given the current products available.

I guess I am a bit of a sadist but this product was really fun to use! I turned off all the power heads and pumps in my tank, and then started to apply the solution to the many Aiptasia in my tank. Within 15 minutes they had all imploded, and I then turned back on my pumps and power heads. I was also able to take care of the tiny ones' by spreading the solution directly on the rocks. I also have two anemones in the tank, and there was not harm caused them. I also observed my fish eating some of the solution after application, and they were unharmed as well.

Very good product in comparison to Joe's Juice or others on the market. Nice heavy duty applicators included. Purple substance has a nice consistency and much easier to apply. Doesn't dry out in the bottle like Joe's Juice. Anemones do sense the product as food and wrap up around it. Bristle worms seem to be drawn to the product after treatment as well. The only question that I still have is the claim of preventing planula from being dispursed into the water during treatment. All anemones that I treated dissolved within minutes. Two weeks later however, there was another large outbreak of anemones. Not sure if this is due to planula being released during treatment, or simply a nutrient problem in the tank due to feeding frozen cubed food.

Another solid product in the Red Sea lineup. I've used the "other" product for a couple of years with acceptable results, and decided to try Aiptasia-X just because. It seems to stay in place better, and eliminated my 2 or 3 little Aiptasia within minutes. it worked exactly as advertised, even though I didn't shut down everything as recommended. The real test was one Aiptasia nestled in a patch of Fire-n-Ice Palys. I applied the product as carefully as possible, keeping it away from the mouths of the palys. The obviously didn't like it touching their stalks, but after I applied it, I squirted the palys with water to get rid of the excess, the Aiptasia died, and the palys still look great a couple of weeks later. This one looks like a keeper.

Aiptasia-X by Red Sea claims to be significantly different from other products like Joe's Juice or Aiptasia Control by Blue Line. In fact, performance is the same, so don't expect miracles. It does cause Aiptasia to retract, and I don't doubt that some of them do die. But within 4 days I found about a third to half of them had come back (these weren't newly settled larvae but were previously treated Aiptasia. I'd like to hear follow up testomony from all those other glowing reviews! I would save your money and just make a solution of kalkwasser (aka Mrs. Wages pickling lime) thick enough to be pasty by thin enough to inject, and squirt it on just as you would Aiptasia-X or Joe's Juice. Effective Aiptasia removal will require weeks of repeated usage of any product, Aiptasia-X or otherwise. And don't believe that baloney about Aiptasia loving this stuff, eating it. It's a very alkaline caustic chemical... what you see when you inject is a reflexive defense response.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

I have to say that I had absolutely no idea that this stuff was going to work. I have tried all kinds of stuff to kill these things off. Everytime I tried pulling them out, more came in. So I thought I would try this because it was cheaper than trying some of the other stuff on the market. I put some on, they started exploding after a few minutes. Our tank was infested with these stupid things. I was ready to pull apart the whole aquarium and try bleaching everything and start over. Now that isn't necessary. Now I see hope in it's future. My daughter and my husband love just watching them explode. Even if I can't get rid of all of them, it will be under control from now on. I have already ordered more bottles. I have used Red Sea Aiptasia twice, once on aiptasia and once on a colony of zoanthids. I am amazed at how willingly aiptasia accept it and how quickly it destroys them. No mess floating around the tank because the aiptasia closed up on you. I also used this product on some zoanthids that were taking over a portion of rock. These zoanthids were in the middle of a colony of fuzzy mushrooms and enchroching on a clam. I used this product on individual zoanthids. I am astounded at how quickly it attacked the zoanthids and how good the applicator works in controlling the flow. Thank you.

After trying many other brands, you know the ones that dry up and become lumpy, this is an amazing product. It works just as it is advertised, the aiptasia almost reach for it, a small squirt and the aiptasia holds on to the formula, retracts a little bit, then implodes just as it does in the video. I have'nt noticed any aiptasia return after using this on them, it kills them dead. The two tips that come with the product are very handy for tight spots. It doesnt cloud the water like others I have used. It takes a very small amount to get the job done, you dont waste any trying to hit a retracting aiptasia. I had a very large aiptasia in a hard to get to place behind a rock, I used the curved tip, the aiptasia reached for the formula, a small squirt, the aiptasia closed up a little, you can see the formula being ingested into the body of the aiptasia and bang, it implodes and is gone forever more. Great product, its about time someone has found a way to rid aptasia effectively. The price is another plus compared to other brands, having to use so little to get the job done a 2oz bottle will last 3 times as long as the others and is cheaper by comparison. If you have an aiptasia problem whether big or small, this is the ONLY way to rid them, excellent job Red Sea !

Well with any product made so far for killing these pests it must be done exactly as the instructions say. A little hint about this product. If you spook the Aiptasia before you apply the product... the Aiptasia will NOT ingest it and in return will NOT die.... you need to go real slow while letting out very light puffs of this product.... if you move too fast or squirt it too fast it spooks them and they don't ingest it..... make sure you go slow and don't spook them and this product will work!

WOW! This stuff worked like a charm. I'd never dealt with aiptasia control before and was a bit worried when I noticed first one and then later 4 of the buggers hanging out near a particularly favored colony of palys. The Red Sea Aiptasia-X had straight forward instructions that were easy to follow. It wasn't long before I was violating the Geneva Convention and feeding each on of the unwelcome visitors some finely manufactured chemical warfare. All 4 took the bait and then receded into their holes never to return again. Success! And my palys are starting to improve again, too!

This is easily the best aiptasia control out there. And believe me, I've tried everything. If you watched the video, then you're probably wondering, "Do they really implode?" Oh yeah, baby. They implode alright. The bottle is much larger than one the other stuff I was buying and the two tips for the syringe are very useful, esp. in the corners of my nano. You can tell this stuff is different the first time you shoot it into an anemone. It has a thick consistency and they really must detect it as food because they gobble it up. Then the countdown begins. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 ... IMPLODE! If you just read this review and still go buy another brand without trying this, you're doing your tank a disservice. I wiped out colonies occupying huge areas of live rock and they haven't returned. I am definitely satisfied.
