Red Sea Aiptasia-X Refill 14oz
Information
Red Sea Aiptasia-X
In an exciting development for reef-keepers Red Sea has developed a unique patent pending formula to treat the pest anemones Aiptasia sp., Anemonia majano and Boloceroides sp. Affecting almost every reef aquarium, Aiptasia (otherwise known as glass anemones), are often introduced via live rock or corals and can quickly reach plague proportions in marine aquaria, destroying corals and other marine livestock with devastating effect.
Existing treatments are often unsuccessful as when threatened Aiptasia quickly retract into holes in the rock and release planula (larvae) in to the aquarium which can rapidly develop in to full anemones. Additionally any part of the anemone`s body left attached to a rock can regenerate into a full anemone. Many treatments can therefore lead to a proliferation rather than the removal of Aiptasia.
Research and development work carried out by Red Sea has led to the development of Aiptasia-X, a product which overcomes the problems usually associated with Aiptasia treatments thanks to its unique formula.
Aiptasia-X consists of natural components which form a uniquely thick, adhesive material. Instead of causing the Aiptasia to feel threatened, the unique formula is sensed as food stimulating the anemone to expand and ingest the material. The adhesive form of the treatment makes both the application of the material easy as well as sealing the anemone`s mouth preventing any release of planula. Within minutes of applying the material the Aiptasia will implode, eradicating both the anemone and its planula.
Red Sea`s new treatment is completely reef-safe and any material not ingested by the Aiptasia is harmless to sessile invertebrates. Excess material will decay harmlessly over time without any adverse consequences.
Easy to use and highly effective, Aiptasia-X provides a solution long sought-after by almost every reef-keeper at one time or another in the life of their aquarium.
The Aiptasia-X kit includes a 60ml bottle of material plus an applicator set consisting of a syringe with 2 (straight and angled) lock-on applicator tips enabling treatment of even the most inaccessible of anemones. The 60ml provided in the kit should be sufficient to treat approximately 100 Aiptasia anemones.
A 415ml refill is also available and is designed to be decanted in to the 60ml bottle for use with the applicator set.

My tank was overgrown and none of the other products was of any help or easy to apply. Aiptasia X was simple to apply and has almost completly clear up the "Pests". I rate it number one of the ones that I tried.

Previously I had been using Joe's Juice, but the trouble with this is that it came in such a small container and much of it seemed to crust up around the lid and so even less was available for use on aiptasia. I see none of this with Aiptasia-X. At first I was concerned that it seemed so runny, but it does harden upon contact and the aiptasia are sealed well. I purchased both the Aiptasia-X with applicators and also the 14 oz refill, so I should be set for quite awhile. Great product!

Works very well at keeping Aiptasia under control. Be careful to keep bottle from being contaminated w/ salt water. Wash the syringe between refills with fresh water.

Using this product gives me the best results of any method I have found. Although tedious, it does work. Doesn't seem to bother the fish or other life in the tank.

I love this product, it does NOT cause any problems in the tank, no side effects. It kills the Aptasia within a minute or so....the only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that the aptasia may come back and need to treated again, sometimes that may be due to not being able to get the exact angle or product into the mouth of the aptasia correctly, AKA operator error!!

I had quite an outbreak of large aiptasia and I decided to try the Red Sea Aiptasia-X since the previous method I was using were not effective. I kept getting more and more. I first used the Aiptasia-X five days ago and so far none have returned.
The product is sticky and the aiptasia seem to not retract when I begin applying. I have not seen any bad effects on my coral.
Make sure to really shake prior to extracting the product or it does not have full effect. Should be a purple color.
You really haveto get the mouth for the product to be 100% effective. Close will not cut it. However, that is easier due to the fact the aiptasia seem to want to eat this rather than retract.
Good product so far. Too early to tell if it stopped babies all over the tank.

I am soooooooooooooo grateful there is (not ONLY) a GREAT product that REALLY does (if used properly) what it says it does as Red Sea Aiptasia-X but the fact that they are not just trying to take our money and for those of us that have large aquariums, offering us ONLY a small container rather than a 14oz Refill. These products REEEEEEALLY work!!!Thank you!!!
