Good Product for the price

I am not new to fishkeeping nor aquatic plants. Previously, I have always, used low light plants without CO2, but I purchased a high watt T5 HO lamp and the plants did better, but they were not as green as I knew they could be. I was new to CO2 injection and basically bought this unit just to familiarize myself with the art. The unit was easy to put together, but I was a little peeved when attaching the solenoid directly to the pressure regulator...the plastic housing on the regulator presses against the solenoid and I was unable to tighten the solenoid in that manner. So, I attached the solenoid inline between the regulator and the needle valve with tubing. It appears to be performing OK and not leaking. The bubble counter is plastic and somewhat fragile, but if handled carefully it should not be a problem. The reactor performs pretty well, but if I could correct two things I would give the unit better suction cups. The suction cups are not very good. I just lodged this thing behind a piece of driftwood and the problem was solved. The second issue with the reactor is that the plug wire comes out of the bottom...not the best choice. At first I did not think that the CO2 viewer was worthwhile; however, I noticed that the solution is greenish blue in the morning when the unit turns on and it is greenish yellow at the end of the day when the unit turns off. So it does work. All in all I am happy with this purchase and this appears to be a great BEGINNER'S unit. My plants have turned a noticeable deeper green so I know the unit works. I would recommend this unit to a beginner at CO2 injection or a casual aquarist.

Pretty Good !!!

Overall this system is pretty good, but when you attach the solenoid directly onto the regulator make sure to use the nylon shim from the removed hose barb. That way it seals without having to worry about leaks. Another thing when tightening the solenoid to the regulator (be careful!) not to tighten it too fast otherwise you might pop off the rubber seal as it rubs on the plastic casing of the regulator. luckily I did not do it but it wanted to come off. Red Sea should not have use so much plastic for the regulator casing. Besides that the system went together very easily, and is precise for how user friendly it is. If you plan on creating a planted aquarium, CO2 is a definite must to meet the criteria for lush and healthy plants. This kit will definitely get your foot in the door so to speak, and get you on your way towards having the planted aquarium of your dreams. Happy planting, and good luck. :)
