Red Sea C-Skim 1200 represents integration or revolutionary features, performance characteristics of high demand commercial foam fractionators and the footprint and affordability of a modernly designed hobby protein skimmer. The Red Sea C-Skim provides a new level of protein skimming in terms of efficiency, performances and user friendliness.
The Red Sea C-Skim features include a Peripheral Flow Closed Loop Skim Chamber providing improved water/air flow dynamics, a integrated Neck Washing system which increases long term skimming performances and the Foam View enabling easy adjustment of the skimming foam production.
Features:
- Innovative, highly effective skim reactor
- Integral neck washing system
- Foam View skim adjustment window
- 120 gph air injection
- Stand-alone or in-sump
- *Please Note: This skimmer requires a separate feed pump. Please feel free to give us a call for a recommendation!
Red Sea C-Skim 1200 Principle:
Inlet: The organics-laden aquarium water is injected into an air pocket above the conical top of the skim chamber which spreads the incoming water flow evenly around the periphery of the skim chamber walls, preventing turbulent flows of non-aerated water that can destabilize the foam production.
Aeration: The aspiration pump with pin wheel impeller re-circulates the water in the chamber whilst constantly injecting 120 gph of micro air bubbles into the water.
Outlet: The out-flowing water is collected evenly from around the periphery of the bottom of the skim chamber where it is almost bubble free.
Control: A skim regulator valve easily adjusts the foaming for a wide range of water conditions providing optimal skimming performance.
Integrated Skimmer Neck Washing System: The patent pending integrated neck washing system developed specifically for the Red Sea C-Skim diverts the water from the skim chamber to an annular spray ring around the top of the neck that sprays concentrated jets of water onto the inside of the neck, washing all of the accumulated sludge back into the reaction chamber. Returning the water flow back to the skim chamber flushes the sludge into the collection cup for easy disposal.
Ergonomic Design: The ergonomic, compact, rectangular design of the Red Sea C-Skim with the complete user interface on one side of the unit makes the Red Sea C-Skim ideal for use in sump or stand alone installation on any conventional filtration system without compromising on skimming efficiency or performance. User interface features includes: Water inlet and outlet, Foam regulator and Foam View window, Air control valve with silencer, Skim/Wash control, Aspiration pump waste drain port, 90 degree outlet adaptor suitable for standard 1 and 1/2 inch rigid pipe.
Aquarium Volume Rating: The recommended aquarium volume ratings for the Red Sea C-Skim have been calculated according to the optimum turnover rate per aquarium type, as determined by laboratory tests conducted by Red Sea. Marine fish only (1 turnover per hour) 300 gallons. Soft Corals (1.5 turnover per hour) 175 gallons. Hard Corals (3-4 time turnover per hour) 100 gallons.

Comments: Would have given five stars save for two things: The size and the drain connection.First off, the C-Skim make gobs of micro-bubbles since it has a pump to recirculate and further fracture and re-fracture the bubbles. Keep in mind you'll need an extra pump (400 GPH max) to feed the C-Skim. I use a 700 GPH I already had with an inline ball valve very slightly closed. It started producing lots of product the first day, no break-in like that Tunze, for the same price, that's now sitting out on the curb waiting for the trash man. ( Please don't make the Tunze mistake. Their skimmer BLOWS bubbles,it doesn't FRACTURE them with a pinwheel ). It's also easily adjustable and very consistent...so far. Anyone who has used a Coralife knows what I mean. They make LOTS of bubbles, but usually either skim too much or to little which calls for constant adjustment. Another good thing about the C-Skim is that you can turn off the foaming action, WITHOUT messing up your perfectly adjusted skim rate, to empty the waste. That's a big plus. Here's the BUT: The C-Skim is pretty wide (as are most skimmers,to be fair) so it won't fit in my 20g sump. It's about 20" tall so it'll fit in the cabinet under my 90g easily enough. I planned to use it externally and run the drain into the sump. There's the problem. The outlet connecter elbow will fall off if you jiggle it too much and the outlet itself is LOWER than the top of the sump when sitting on the cabinet floor. That means you'll have to raise the skimmer so the water outlet is ABOVE the top of the sump. You can't pump it uphill since the back pressure will stop the bubbles. As for the elbow, I'm paranoid so I glued it on. I certainly don't want it falling off and pumping the contents of my aquarium on the floor.Other than that, it's an excellent performer. My coral look better after 3 days so I know it's doing it's job. Hope this helps

Comments: This is a fairly large unit make sure you have the room for it. Seems well built. I am feeding it off of the main pump return line from the sump. It took 48 hours after a good pre rinse to generate proper foam. It is installed on a 100 gallon system fowlr. Holds its adjustment perfectly. My old skimmer would overflow if the sump water level went higher and always fluctuated output with sump water level(no auto top off). It is fairly quiet.
Makes a ton of dry foam, or wet if preferred. The neck washing ring could be more angled at the top(instead of semi flat and round to make it easier for the foam to fall into cup. It tends to make large dry foam balls that spread across lid than fall into cup. Cleaning is easy.
Neck wash is great although some slime will not come off. The riser tube is large enough to fit 3 or 4 fingers into to wipe. I do this with the neck wash on, than it pushes this stuff into the cup when returned to normal operation. I used to clean the glass once a week. Now every two weeks. Water is crystal clear. I could not be happier with this product. If you have a Cora... skimmer get this now so you can enjoy the hobby again. A smaller version would be nice for those with smaller tanks.

This unique Deltec design is more than just a skimmer. It contains a chamber for placing of Rowaphos and carbon, which slides in and out of the skimmer and is part of the skimmers construction.
