Great

Comments: Hi, I purchased this skimmer for my new 180 gallon fish only tank. It is well designed and constructed.Although it isn't important it looks much better than those other skimmers that are constructed from sheets and tubes of acrlylic which are cut and glued together. The skimmer produces a ton of bubbles and began producing waste within two hours. The skimmer is quiet and easily adjusted. The washing system works very well. I power the skimmer with a "Quiet One" 2200 which works perfectly. The only problem that I have had is that after only a short while the integrated pump that produces the bubbles started working intermittently and then froze up. I called Red Sea and they are sending me a new pump (actually a newly re-designed pump) to replace my defective pump. The Technical/Customer service at Red Sea is excellent and their attention to customer concerns is by far the best I have encountered among aquarium product manufacturers. If I were asked if there was anything that I would change on the skimmer I could think of only two things: 1. Make the outflow elbow connection more secure and 2. Make the inflow barb longer/bigger. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Below Average

Comments: I am currently running a fairly high end beckett style skimmer on my reef tank. Works great but having to use the huge pump to drive it is wasteful. Have been thinking about going to a needlewheel aspirated skimmer. Saw this one on sale and was also intrigued by the idea of the self-cleaning neck (who likes cleaning that stuff?). Figured I would run them in parallel for a while to see what it does. Well, hated just about everything about it. Cheap construction- very lightweight plastic body. Poor fit and finish - look at it wrong and it leaks. Frankly, I never left it unattended because I was worried I would find my tank all over the floor. As for the self-cleaning? Didn't run it long enough to find out but REALLY doubt it would be effective.... it sort of dribbles water down the neck. It's a toy that costs enough you could buy a real skimmer. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: THIS SKIMMER IS JUST FANTASTIC, NO PROBLEMS AS IT PRODUCES GOBS OF FOAM. BUT THE SIZE OF THIS UNIT IS HUGE AND DOES NOT FIT MOST WET OR DRY SUMPS. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR IT. I AM RUNNING A 150 GAL REEF TANK WITH COOLER, PHOS REMOVER AND UV STERILIZER WHICH I THOUGHT I WOULD PLACE THE SKIMMER INSIDE THE SUMP BUT IT WAS A NO GO. I AM CURRENTLY RUNNING THE SKIMMER ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CABINET UNTIL I CAN BUILD A BIGGER ONE. PLUMBING IS CURRENTLY A NIGHTMARE Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I DONT CARE WHAT THESE NEGATIVE ARTICLES SAY!!! THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST SKIMMER I EVER HAD.. THE AIR PUMP DID STOP WORKING FOR A BIT BUT NOTHING MAJOR. THE SMELL FROM THE WASTE IS GROSS. I ALWAYS SAY THE WORST THE SMELL THE BETTER THE PRODUCT. I KEEP THE SKIM AT I HIGH LEVEL SO I DONT USE THE WASH SYSTEM MUCH BUT IT WORKS WELL ANYWAY. SO FAR NO CUSTOMER SERVICE YET. OH AND BIG DEAL THE ANGLED PIPE LEAKS ITS JUST THERE TO FLOW THE WATER DOWN IT MAKES NO DIFFERANCE IN THE PERFORMANCE. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: this protein skimmer does just what they advertise. when it works. the needle wheel pump has gone out in mine 3 times now. and red sea will not send a new one. custermer service at red sea is very poor and will not return your calls. when you do reach someone they don't know anything about the skimmer and the person who handles it is never there. if your looking for a head ache instead of peice of mind i would recomend buying this skimmer. Otherwise i would go with a down draft. I would NOT recommend this product to anyone. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Simple to hook up and in three days producing slime. Only drawback is the choice in diameter of the outlet tube. 40mm? It's not exactly 1.5inches so extra glue will be required to attach. Why not include an adapter for US pipes? Other than that this is a great system. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I love this C-Skim for the last few months. After you fix the leak from the L shape elbow adapter, C-Skim works perfectly with this price. The customer service is very helpful when you need help. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Horrible Protein Skimmer and not worth the money. The system leaked from the 90 degree return elbow and when I obtained a replacement skimmer, that one leaked from the same spot. I never had the opportunity to see how it performed otherwise. Another disapointing feature is the size. It's huge! I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This is a fairly large unit make sure you have the room for it. Seems well built. I am feeding it off of the main pump return line from the sump. It took 48 hours after a good pre rinse to generate proper foam. It is installed on a 100 gallon system fowlr. Holds its adjustment perfectly. My old skimmer would overflow if the sump water level went higher and always fluctuated output with sump water level(no auto top off). It is fairly quiet. Makes a ton of dry foam, or wet if preferred. The neck washing ring could be more angled at the top(instead of semi flat and round to make it easier for the foam to fall into cup. It tends to make large dry foam balls that spread across lid than fall into cup. Cleaning is easy. Neck wash is great although some slime will not come off. The riser tube is large enough to fit 3 or 4 fingers into to wipe. I do this with the neck wash on, than it pushes this stuff into the cup when returned to normal operation. I used to clean the glass once a week. Now every two weeks. Water is crystal clear. I could not be happier with this product. If you have a Cora... skimmer get this now so you can enjoy the hobby again. A smaller version would be nice for those with smaller tanks. . Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Would have given five stars save for two things: The size and the drain connection.First off, the C-Skim make gobs of micro-bubbles since it has a pump to recirculate and further fracture and re-fracture the bubbles. Keep in mind you'll need an extra pump (400 GPH max) to feed the C-Skim. I use a 700 GPH I already had with an inline ball valve very slightly closed. It started producing lots of product the first day, no break-in like that Tunze, for the same price, that's now sitting out on the curb waiting for the trash man. ( Please don't make the Tunze mistake. Their skimmer BLOWS bubbles,it doesn't FRACTURE them with a pinwheel ). It's also easily adjustable and very consistent...so far. Anyone who has used a Coralife knows what I mean. They make LOTS of bubbles, but usually either skim too much or to little which calls for constant adjustment. Another good thing about the C-Skim is that you can turn off the foaming action, WITHOUT messing up your perfectly adjusted skim rate, to empty the waste. That's a big plus.Here's the BUT: The C-Skim is pretty wide (as are most skimmers,to be fair) so it won't fit in my 20g sump. It's about 20" tall so it'll fit in the cabinet under my 90g easily enough. I planned to use it externally and run the drain into the sump. There's the problem. The outlet connecter elbow will fall off if you jiggle it too much and the outlet itself is LOWER than the top of the sump when sitting on the cabinet floor. That means you'll have to raise the skimmer so the water outlet is ABOVE the top of the sump. You can't pump it uphill since the back pressure will stop the bubbles. As for the elbow, I'm paranoid so I glued it on. I certainly don't want it falling off and pumping the contents of my aquarium on the floor.Other than that, it's an excellent performer. My coral look better after 3 days so I know it's doing it's job. Hope this helps Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This Skimmer is Big but does work well. It took almost three days before it really started skimming ,but thats normal for a brand new skimmer. The adjustment Valve is really nice paired with the bubble viewing window makes adjustment easy. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
