NO3:PO4-X Contains a unique complex of carbons that are used by nutrient-reducing bacteria. Each carbon is utilized by different strains of microorganisms while maintaining the specific Carbon: Nitrogen: Phosphorus ratio required for each stage. The complex includes other organic bonded elements that are important stimulators in each stage of the reduction process. These metal and non-metals elements ensure steady bacterial propagation and complete nitrate reduction to nitrogen gas and the absorption and utilization of phosphate by the bacteria.

The fine control of the nitrate and phosphate levels provided by monitored dosing of NO3:PO4-X guarantees the gradual changes and accurate maintenance of the nutrient levels, preventing destruction of the zooxanthellae population that can cause UV shock and starvation of the corals.

Unlike some other low-nutrient regimes, correct use of NO3:PO4-X will maintain all of the beneficial micro fauna.

NO3:PO4-X is also recommended as a complete carbon source for use with carbon based de-nitrators.

NO3:PO4-X, available in 500ml and 1000ml bottles, also includes a measuring cup for easy dosing.

Notes for use: Uncontrolled reduction of the algae nutrients can destroy the symbiotic Zooxanthellae causing UV shock and starvation of the corals. For best results always use an accurate test kit such as Red Sea’s Nitrate Pro test which has an accuracy of 0.125ppm. Once lower levels are nutrients are achieved, as seen by corals displaying their natural colors instead of “Zooxanthellae” brown, it is important to start feeding with easily digestible foods such as Red Sea’s Reef Energy 2-part formula that contains all of the necessary carbohydrates, amino acids and vitamins. Efficient protein skimming is essential to provide the necessary oxygenation of the water and to remove bacterial flocks from the aquarium.

Good choice for Nitrate remova

This does work, however, you have to be patient. Takes about two weeks to fully reduce nitrate levels to near 0. Daily dose is required. After that, I use a half dose few times a week. Seems to be working well.

Great product! Works as advert

I'm only on my second week of using this product and it already cut my nitrate and P04 levels in half! I use to vodka dose in previous tanks but it took much longer to bring my levels down and would sometimes burn the tips of my SPS corals. So far I'm loving this product and so are my corals and magnificent anemone. Still have a little ways to go to get my levels where I want but in the two week time I'm using this stuff I'm very impressed and confidant I'll be there soon.

Best NO3, PO4 reducer yet

I was skeptical but decided to give Red Sea NO3, PO4 reducer a try after reading a lot of positive reviews. I have now ben using it for over 6 months with very good results! I tried other carbon dosing like white vinegar which did work OK. After starting the Red Sea dosing I even stopped using GFO for a while but now use in small amounts even though the instructions say not to. Cyano is minimal, hair algae and othe nuisance algae's are gone. Corals are thriving and fish are doing great. The really weird part about all this is I'm almost positive it is Acetone in the bottle! There may some other added chemicals but I know what acetone smells like. With that said, please read the directions and dose on the light side. It is important to check your NO3 and PO4 levels with a good test kit! It works as advertised!

the Bomb

i was ready to give up on my 90 gallon reef aquarium. I was having issues with red slime algae and couldn't get rid of it. I have been using Red Sea NO3 PO4 X now for six months and have had no more issues with slime or hair algae. I even got rid of the two reactors in my sump! I was using gfo in one and bio pellets in the other. This product works exactly as advertised. The only problem I have found with it and no one else has mentioned this is that my Koralia pumps and MP40 have to be cleaned every 3 or 4 weeks because of some bacterial slime that starts appearing on them. I assume it is caused by the dosing of this product. Also noticed that my bubble sponge gets clogged also in my sump. Otherwise I love this product.

Go Slow

This product definitely works so I gave it 4 stars. My skimmer went nuts with this stuff. However, as with any carbon dosing scheme it is something you need to monitor closely. I automatically dripped the solution and after the first month it reduced Nitrate as expected. In hindsight, I should have reduced the dosage after 2 - 3 weeks because after returning from Vacation after six weeks my Phosphates were zero with the result that my Ducans were closed up and it's still not recovered fully. It is easy to overdose in time. I would recommend using only half of the recommendations and to go slow and test Nitrates and Phosphates twice a week.
