Energy efficient, quiet and cool operation with maximum durability. Hybrid model includes kit to easily switch between Dart and Snapper pumps thus allowing you to dramatically change flow rate and power consumption to best meet the needs of your aquarium set up.

Product Questions

Does this pump have oil in it to keep all running smoothly
Question by: Sean Weinman on Nov 12, 2021, 8:24 AM
Yes, it does.
Answer by: Matt Lucero (BRS Staff) on Nov 15, 2021, 8:42 AM
I purchased this pump several years ago. Although the pump is running fine, sounds perfectly normal, but I have noticed the flow thru my sump has slowed down somewhat. Does this pump require periodic cleaning ?
Question by: PK on May 6, 2017, 11:15 AM
Hey there,
Due to the natural buildup of precipitate and organics, we recommend regularly breaking down and cleaning equipment such as pumps on a regular basis for best performance. After a longer period of time you may also find that a significant buildup has occurred on the plumbing itself which may also impede water flow.

Regards

Can this be sized down to a 3/4 inlet and outlet?
Question by: Ryan WIlliams on Jan 6, 2017, 1:38 PM
Great question! You absolutely can reduce the input and output of these pumps. We do just that here at BRS on our water change stations! :-)

What is the minimum space needed next to sump for this pump? Will it fit in a 13 1/2" space?
Question by: Ed on Aug 5, 2016, 12:07 PM
Hi there,
The Snapper/Dart Hybrid pump has dimensions of 11” x 6.6” x 7” and that does not include an input fitting into the pump. Depending on the fitting length you are looking to use it would be a tight fit with that pump in a 13.5” space. If you look into using an elbow fitting or a nipple directly off the bulkhead it could work but you would want to double check with the fittings you plan on using.

Is there a headloss chart available? My sump is located 10 feet below my tank. I would like to know what flow I can expect.
Question by: Daniel on Jul 6, 2016, 2:16 PM
Hey there!
I have included a link below for the chart. Either the dart or snapper impeller can be used to follow the correct height. Feel free to let us know if you have any further questions!

At zero feet head, what is the max operating PSI on the output end?
Question by: James on Feb 3, 2016, 1:09 PM
Unfortunately this is not an answer that is available as for a PSI rating the plumbing and settings would need to be installed and established. Even after plumbing the PSI rating will vary and is quite a difficult calculation. Is there a specific need for a PSI rating for the pump in this situation? Let us know via email or phones and we will be more than willing to help!

what is the dart snapper kit and it is included with pump right?
Question by: David on Apr 17, 2014, 6:59 AM

Hi David,
I haven't ever seen something labeled as a dart/snapper kit, but this product is the dart/snapper hybrid pump. The pump has both the dart and the snapper impellers with it and you can switch between them depending on how much flow you want.
Answer by: Bulk Reef Supply on Apr 17, 2014, 6:59 AM
The max head rating for these pumps...Is this the maximum to which it will pump water at all, or the point at which it starts to drop off substantially? Also does it mean a[12] foot vertical height?
Thanks
Question by: Daniel on Nov 4, 2013, 6:59 AM
-2
Hey Daniel,
The flow constantly will decrease as the back pressure increases. Beyond the maximum head height flow will stop. Head height is a measure of back pressure. The primary source of this back-pressure is gravity from pumping vertical distances but there is also other considerations like friction from the pipe, elbows, etc

If i was going to drill a hole in the side of my sump to connect plumbing to this pump, What size bulkhead would I need?
Question by: Joel on Sep 27, 2013, 10:45 AM
Hey Joel,
The Reeflo Snapper/Dart has a 2" input on it so you would need a 2" bulkhead and pipe to feed it. A 2" bulkhead like this would be pretty typical:
