I think RO makes great products. This one seems great as well. I have a bio-pellet reactor and love it. Using this one on a 140 gal tank. The only issue is the complete lack of acceptable assembly and troubleshooting instructions which is typical for RO products in my experience. Was not able to find anything anywhere online as far as printed help or video - prob because it's a new product. So needless to say assembly was a bit of trial and error. Able to figure it out if you have a basic knowledge of skimmer assembly and function, but if not I would wait for Marine Depot or someone to shoot a video. The DC pump ships with a input output cover attached. Nowhere does it say or show that it needs to be removed first. Doesn't discuss routing the power cord. Most importantly install the "air intake device" piece the correct way. Not clear at all from the instructions. This small grey piece attaches to the base of the skimmer and was actually shipped installed with the bevel edge facing up. The bevel edge needs to face DOWN or you won't get any air intake into the base of the skimmer. Make sure the air tubing that attaches at the base comes out straight and doesn't kink. Aligning the power cord, the air tubing, the pump, air intake device, and Volute takes a bit of futzing with to get perfect. I'm just utterly shocked that Reef Octo and Coralvue can't do a better job of including appropriate instructions for a product at this price point.
