SeaChem Cupramine ™ effectively eradicates ectoparasite of both freshwater and marine fish. It has all the advantages of copper sulfate and chelated copper, but not the disadvantages. Like copper sulfate, it is fully ionic and effective at low concentrations. The cupric (Cu+2) charge is fully active. Like chelates, it is safe for fish and is not precipitated in the filter bed. Unlike both, there is more than a 4x concentration gap between the minimal therpeutic dose and the toxic dose. Unlike copper salts, it is stable in the aquarium, and, unlike chelates, it is easily removed by chemical filtration. Unlike other copper products, it is both highly effective and safe in freshwater as well as marine water. It does not damage the filter bed. Cupramine™ contains 10,000 mg/L of copper and 100 mL treats over 500 gallons. Do not use in conjuction with ParaGuard™. Test for copper with our MultTest: Copper™ kit. Marine or freshwater use.
Caution: Turn off your UV sterilizer while treating with Cupramine. UV will break up the ionic bond in Cuprimine; causing it to be much more toxic.

Comments: The fact that you can safely use this product with more sensitive fish (ie angels, etc.) is a definite plus. The instructions are easily understood, dosing and testing is simple as well, and the product is easily removed with water changes and carbon. It will not stick to any sort of surfaces as well. Best of all, it cured my fish!
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I ended up with marine velvet on a pair of charming true Perculas in the quarantine tank. The male clown was in worse shape and looked miserable, I didn't think it would make it. The funny thing is that I realized that I was actually attached to those little clumsy fish. After learing about treatment options, I performed a 5 minute fresh water dip along with formalin and malachite green solution (using Ich-Rid+, Kodrdon brand). The fresh water dip gave immediate relief to the male clown. I think the gills were infested with parasite and fresh water + formalin dip discarded a good portion of them. Then I used the Cupramine copper according to the Seachem instructions with concentration of around 5 ppm. The treatment worked very well. Quarantine tank's temp was around 75 F. Due to the severity of the parasite infestation, the male clown lost some scales and was sort of scarred for a while, but they are brought back to health, scars are gone, and they act like two little piggies begging for food all the time. No immediate ill effects were noted with this product. It saved my fish.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
