Seachem

Seachem Reef Advantage Calcium ™ is equivalent to dry Reef Complete™. It is a non-caustic (pH 8.3-8.6) optimized blend of ionic calcium designed to restore and maintain calcium to levels found in natural seawater. Calcium and carbonates are essential to all coral growth. If either becomes deficient, coral growth will cease, followed by a rapid decline in coral health. Reef Advantage Calcium™ also includes magnesium and strontium in amounts proportionate to typical utilization ratios (100:5:0.1, Ca:Mg:Sr). This allows one to maintain these two important elements while maintaining calcium. If either usage or precipitative loss results in a more rapid loss of either magnesium or strontium, then Reef Advantage Magnesium™, Reef Advantage Strontium™, or Reef Strontium™ may be employed. Unlike limewater (kalkwasser), Reef Advantage Calcium™ does not have a caustic pH and will not deplete magnesium. Used as directed, it will not deplete alkalinity. 250 g treats 8,000 L (2,000 gallons).

Seachem Reef Advanrage Calcium

I have tried multiple methods with regard to calcium and alkalinity management in the reef aquarium and find myself coming back to Seachem. Bulk calcium chloride and sodium carbonate are cheaper, but for my systems I do not get good consistent results. Reef organisms are so beautiful and they do best with quality additives. I find that the Seachem line is pH balanced such that they are much less extreme and not as harsh as very high pH additives ( which precipitate calcium in a see-saw manner). My coral polyps are doing better, colors are improving and coralline algae is growing well. My only issue is the cost, but it does offer results.

Great!

I like the Seachem products, and have had great success using them. They are an excellent value. Great quality for the price! The calcium dissolves easy and does not cloud the water at all. I like using it as opposed to kalk because it does not effect the PH and Alkalinity as much.

great stuff

Seachem's reef advantage calcium is the only calcium supplement I recommend for my customers. Simple to dose, and concentrated so that it doesn't take much to get the result you're looking for. coupled with seachem's reef builder for alkalinity, these are the only two products you will need to keep your CA/ALK in balance.

seachem additives

I've had marine tanks for over 30 years and I find myself getting lazy on water changes and chemical additions. By adding reef calcium alternated with reef builder to my RO water that I top up the tanks with, my corals still thrive and look better than they have in years. I believe these products are a must have for the low budget hobbist.
