It will lower your phosphates as it says. If the instructions are followed your levels will stay low. Unlike drops PhosGaurd absorbs the phosphates. It will most likely not remove the hair algae from tanks as that is most likely from other issues such as high nitrates or detritus in the system. I use it on my 600 gallon reef system.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

I have been using this on my tank with a reactor for about a little over a month now, and it has slowly been killing off my cyano algae problem. Defiantly give it a good rinse before using it though!

Not sure how well this stuff works just yet but I've used it now for over a month and still seeing hair algae grow. I've recently purchased some bulk GFO as this stuff IMHO seems to work better at phosphate adsorption. I bought this stuff mostly because of it's larger granular size to use in my own DIY reactor but after I bought it I discovered it does not need to be fluidized but instead acts more like a pass-through sponge. Also, it assumes that the first amount you place in the system will be spent shortly thereafter (a few days) and then they recommend replacing the previous contents and then monitor PO4 to determine change. Since my test kit doesn't seem to indicate that I have any detectable PO4 I cannot say if this is or is not working since I still have Chaeto and hair algae growth.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

I have used Seachem Phosguard for about six montha now and I am really pleased in its ability to lower phosphate levels in my tanks. I'm using in my fluval canister filters and changing it monthly. the lower phosphate levels have helped in the control of unwanted algae and I have seen no side effects on either fish or invertabrates. I would recomend this product highly to anyone wanting to control phosphate levels in any type of tank.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

I feed heavy in my mixed reef aquarium and had a bad algae problem as a result. I started using PhosGuard, putting one cup of the product in a filter sock and placing that in the chem filter and the algae was under control in about two weeks. Phos levels went from 3+!! to 0. I replace it every week with a fresh cup of PhosGuard, I still feed heavy and have had no problems since. I really like this product!
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
