Excellent!

Comments: I've just installed two of these valves into my aquarium plumbing. After two days of leak checks for one valve it has worked well. I have turned it off and on numerous times under pressure and developed no leaks. I wish the same could be said for the second identical valve. All connections were teflon taped (I'm a plumber) and the large plastic union screw was tight. This particular valve leaked alot in short order. I shut down my system, disassembled the valve, and quickly found this Spears valve defective. The 'back' side of the ball seal that sits in the base of the housing had two deep creases in the back side of the teflon seal. According to Spears they state that they pressure check their valves... These are just the "cold wet facts" based upon my experience of Spears 'ball valve' and reviewing Spears website.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: The union features of this product are lacking. You _must_ turn off the pump because the valve won't hold the water back. You also don't have the rotational freedom because the union only fits in certain orientations (unlike a normal union that lets you rotate the connection at any angle before you tighten it). It is also too difficult to connect and release the union. The valve, however, is easier to turn than the other pure ball valves on this site. But if you wanted to be able to turn off the flow with the valve in order to disconnect the union, buy a valve and union separately.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
