Since this review is for the wet side that I purchased, it works perfectly. I needed a new one because my large anenome got sucked into the side of it and caused the original one to burn up. I now wished that I would have used the piece of foam that came with pump to stop this from happening. Thought I'd post this so that someone else might not have same trouble. Expensive lesson!

I have replaced a number of these wet-side assemblies over the years. It seems like they have a lifespan of only a couple of years. The new wet-side assemblies seem to be an improvement over the original equipment. Specifically, the Teflon washer/bearing is now oversized, which I anticipate will the improve longevity of the unit. It is also considerably quieter than the original design. Thanks for making a good product better.

For me purchasing a spare wet side made sense. I can thoroughly clean one unit and use my spare and just swap it out. Circulation is so important that I felt it important to have a spare wetside.

I am using two of these pumps in my 55 gallon saltwater tank. They have adjustable speeds, as well as selectable wave and/or motion settings. They run very quietly, and provide a great amount of motion in the tank. I think the best asset of these pumps, is that the motor assembly is on the outside of the tank, and is not subject to salt or scale buildup, and they don't take up a lot of interior space in the tank.

Four replacements in 2 years? paid for 3 so far. When the little plastic nut becomes looser than original factory torque then kiss the shaft goodbye, and dont even try to tighten it yourself. Vortec's output screening is so large that a snail 1/2 inch in diameter can easily enter the housing and stop the fan, however the shaft keeps turning and presto $75.00 otd.

My wet side assembly has take a turn for the worse after 3+ years of constant use, causing the motor to overheat and vibrate. I bought a new wet side assembly and all I can say is, this is a great product! It's built better than the original and brought my Mp40 back to life!
