Comments: Works really well on my Back-Pak II protein skimmer, which came with a Rio 600 RVT. The 800 produces better flow and is the only pump I need on my 56 gallon salt water reef tank. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have a CPR Bak-Pak skimmer. The pump works fine for this application, but I would like some control on the bubles produced. My old pump I was able to control the air feed. The 600 seems fine, but I wished I had experience with the 800, because I would have like more bubles then what I am current getting. I am only pulling 1/16 cup of tea from my 55 gal tank currently. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Been using a 'bak-pak protein skimmer'for my reef tank.The tamm rio 600 (Rvt)that came with the bak-pak burned out after two years, replaced the identical pump. Pump is an excellent pump and their expediated shipping made it a great buy. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This pump seems to lack longevity. I was looking back through my order history and have replaced this pump every two years. I use it in my protien skimmer. Good flow and bubbles for the skimmer. Seems to produce good results. Just doesn't last very long. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have three cpr bakpak skimmers and I just bought three Rio 600 just incase they old one go bad , keep in mind I have had them for 2 years with no issues but didnt want to take a chance . the pumps are the best for skimmers and they are extremely quite , I get one full cup every other day and the liquid in it is dark green so they do the job great , I say buy it worth it Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I USED TO HAVE THE RIO 600 AND THAT DIED AFTER ONLY 2YEARS. THIS RIO 800 IS BASICALLY THE SAME EXACT THING AS THE RIO 600, EXCEPT THE AIR INTAKE KNOB DOESN'T HAVE AN ADJUSTABLE KNOB LIKE THE RIO 600. SO THERE'S NO WAY TO CONTROL THE AIR PRESSURE, IT'S JUST WAY TOO MUCH BUBBLES AND AIR PRESSURE AND EMPTIES OUT CLEAN WATER, NOT THE GUCK THAT IS SUPPOSED TO COME OUT. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I replaced a Maxijet 1200 that I had modded to an RVT pump, and man, it made a lot of noise. So much so that I replaced it with this Rio RVT pump, and this is much quieter. I ordered this model for use with a CPR Aquafuge PS, the one with the skimmer. I am getting great skimmate with it, and it fits right inside the inlet of the Aquafuge. I would use this pump again. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have a 55 gallon aquarium. I use this little pump with loads of power on my protein skimmer in my sump. This is my second one of these. My first one lasted about a year. I have tried others and I will purchase this one again in another year if I have to. It does the work to help keep your aquarium looking beautiful and your fish happy. The best thing about it is the cost. Ihave paid 45-65 dollars in other pumps, but you just can't beat the quality for the price with this pump. I highly recommend. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Pros: low wattage, powerful, works great with my CPR Bak Pak skimmer! seems to be quieter than the max-jet 1200, produces similar microbubbles to the max-jet 1200, but note that the max-jet 1200 produce a bit more. the max-jet killed two of my anemone, switch the rio 800 RVT there is no area where anemone can be sucked in! the pump i got was quiet, thought it would be louder since I experienced with the rio 600 pump. Cons: People commented that these pumps have high failure rate. I have two other rio pumps, 600 and 800. They both work fine, but the 600 requires a tap to get it started again if is disconnected for a long time. They require some cleaning after a few months. btw I am using the same rio 600 for 2 years and 800 for 1.5 years... wonder how long this pump will last me. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Lasted 4 weeks before clogging, creating an air pocket in my overflow. As a result the return in my sump, pumped 20 gallons of water back into my tank and onto my floor .. WHAT A MESS..... BUY A BACKUP AND CONNECT IT AS WELL OR FIND ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This is the second of this pump we have had for our protein skimmer. On the first the impeller came loose and the system is factory sealed so you can't get into it to do repairs. Hopefully this pump will last longer than 3 months. While the previous pump was working it did a great job. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have had this pump continuously running for the last four years on my BakPak protein skimmer. It has finally died. Granted the last couple months have been a little rocky but that is twice as long as most of my other pumps. While I am at it I have enjoyed my BakPak skimmer too. I think the price should be cheaper but whatever, all these items are specialty priced. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Creates lots of fine bubbles for my hang on protein skimmer. I found that when I didn't clean the pump every couple months, it created less bubbles. So make sure you clean the pump so it lasts longer and works efficiently. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: The Rio-800 tends to be a bit noisy and the impeller fins tend to break off easily. Had this pump in a small protein skimmer and it made more noise than the actual main pump. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Rio 800 RVT pro and con by Consumer

Comments: Pro's: Low wattage, uses little electricity. Produces more and finer bubbles then maxijet. Alot of gph for its size. Cons: Some are really loud. Short lived, only lasts a year or so. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
