These grounding probes come with a non-corrosive titanium rod attached to a 10ft stainless wire lead, a three prong grounded plug, with an additional grounding eyelet. These probes also utilize an insulated transition joint, insuring against corrosion protection, and leaching of metals into the aquarium.

Stray voltage is real

As an electrician, I was intrigued by the idea of stray voltage in my tank. All my gear is brand new and the outlet was changed to a GFCI receptacle for safety. I was VERY surprised to get a reading of over 12VAC from my water to the receptacle's ground position. So, I cut a piece of simple wire and ran it from the water to the receptacle's grd outlet and the meter then showed ZERO volts! When I pulled the wire out, the meter instantly showed 12VAC again. That sold me right there. So I have just ordered the probe because it's titanium is more suitable for long term exposure to water than an exposed copper wire of course. Good product and great price! Happy fishkeeping to all!

Great Product

Seems well made and is a good bit of insurance to avoid any problems from stray voltage down the line.

Exactly what I needed

Great probe. I like that it has both a plug and a wire ring to hook up either way. I have it plugged in. Couldn't ask for more.

awesome

had stray voltage in tank. found by blue tang loosing color is face and sensory organs very pitted. also very elusive and timid. Hiding most of the time. Installed grounding probe and used volt meter and noticed O stray volts immediatly. The blue tang is much more happy and out to view and eating better. Now I just have to locate the culprit

peace of mind

not sure if it is working, I am sure it is. like the choice of plugging it into a outlet or being able to ground it. In my seahorse tank.

Will always have one

I thought my fish were getting what i thought was ich on and off for a year. The ends of fins would become white and fish an coral seemed stressed. I tried everything to battle it but nothing worked. I am quite experienced at fish and coral keeping and have not had a fish with any disease for many many years. Finally someone suggested I get a voltage meter and test my water. Low and behold, I was reading stray voltage. Found it was coming from a very expensive powerhead I had just bought the same time my symptoms started. Tossed the powerhead and picked this up for peace of mind. Should I ever get stray voltage again it will just go straight to the probe and out of the tank.

Hope it works

The probe looks to be quality and I appreciate the use of titanium, should last for quite some time. It is difficult to know if it is working but I added it from a safety aspect. There should be something in the instructions on how to confirm that your wall socket ground is operational. I used a volt meter because I know how to do it. Suggesting that a certified electrician be brought in could add some unexpected costs to the product.
