Tunze

In 1985 TUNZE® invented the “auto top off” system. Critics initially derided the idea as an invention for lazy people… They missed the main point: delicate aquatic life requires a constant osmotic pressure. The Osmolator® - short for Osmotic Regulator - provides this in one easy-to-install complete Kit. Only the Osmolator® provides the level of safety and reliability that comes with 25 years of TUNZE® know how.

Features

  • An optic operated mini sensor recognizes the water level precisely.
  • Displays all functions optically and sounds a signal in case of failures.
  • New Magnetic Sensor mount, so easy to use!
  • Redundant security: the main sensor is a proprietary optic sensor. Should that fail a safety float switch shuts the unit off and sounds an alarm. Even if that fails safety circuitry shuts off the pump after 10 minutes.
The Osmolator® will be supplied with low voltage metering pump, mounting magnets, tubing controller and power supply. You only need a reservoir and water!

Specifications
  • Metering pump capacity: 2.95ft: 13.74gph, 4.92ft: 12.42gph, 6.56ft: 7.13h, Hmax: 7.22ft
  • Ready for mounting with power supply unit, metering pump, hose, sensor holding device.
  • Metering pump capacity: 0.9 m: 52 l/h, 1.5 m: 47 l/h, 2 m: 27 l/h, Hmax: 2.2 m
  • The precise water level is ensured by a non-wearing optical sensor and a transistor switch without any moving parts. This sensor is insensitive to soiling, light or magnetic fields.
  • Its “automatic eye” recognizes the water level precisely; even small waves or level variations cannot irritate the unit.
  • An independent safety sensor with a separate power supply circuit and relay control ensures reliable overflow protection.
  • An electronic time controller and current limiter for the pump connected result in a higher operational safety. This unit protects the metering pump against running dry and reports an empty storage container.
  • All functions are clearly displayed by LEDs; safety messages are also indicated by acoustic signals.
  • The osmotic regulators are all operated at safety extra-low voltage.
For smaller aquariums, check out the Tunze Nano Osmolator 3152. If you need a container to hold your top off water, the Tunze Osmolator Storage Container 5002.25 is an ideal choice.

Q
Does anyone have this connected to a RedSea Max?
I just got into the hobby and have a RedSea Max E 260. (which I love so far) Looking for a good and reliable ATO. From research it looks like this is the best. Would I connect the sensors and water feed to the back sump or in the display tank? (I do not have the below sump upgrade - it's in the back of the tank) It's also 69 gallons and was in between this model and the nano version - any recommendations?

A
The Tunze Osmolator would be a great Automatic Top Off for this system. The top off line would enter the back of the tank in the filtration.

“Great product!”
5.0

I added this along with a 5 gallon Trigger Systems crystal reservoir and it works seamlessly in my 54 gallon corner bowfront tank. Keeps my water and salinity levels consistent which keeps my tank happy.

“Worked for a short while”
2.0

When I first set this unit up, it worked great. However, one day about 2 months after I installed it I came home and my top off bucket was empty and my tank had an extra 3 gallons in it, provided by this ATO, which had malfunctioned and pumped until it could get no more RODI water and then finally ...Read More

“Best purchase ever”
5.0

i don't know why I waited so long to purchase this ATO. Super easy to install and get up and running. I have my 28G nano next to my bed and you can hear the pump kick in, but it's not that bad. But no more topping off with a jug. I do like the safety second sensor too.

“3 separate tank all fail”
1.0

This was my first ATO system. It was on my 600 gallon corner and set on my sump. Can't explain why but it unloaded 15 gallons of fresh water into my system. The optical failed as did the mechanical float. So because of the rave reviews I moved it to my 150 Q-tank. This system has a 25 gallon ATO, it...Read More

“Not a good design”
3.0

Control box is very susceptible to humidity and moisture. Why would anyone design a controller that was susceptible to moisture when it is to be used around an aquarium? I've been through 2 controllers now, and now my current one is beeping failure alerts. And no, I didn't spill water on it. Als...Read More

“Stops working after 3 months”

Just like a previous reviewer mentioned, after three months of use it stopped working properly. It turns on and keeps filling the tank until the alarm goes off. I cleaned it numerous times and turned it on and off numerous times but I cant get it to work properly for more than three days until it ...Read More

“Good design and History”
5.0

I am using this in a 212 gallon fresh water aquarium system with a sump. I have a fair amount of evaporation on a daily basis. I read the reviews and made my choice. It is well made and I have it use my 50 gallon self-filling water change reservoir as the source. As expected: it is working great. No...Read More
