In 1985 TUNZE® invented the “auto top off” system. Critics initially derided the idea as an invention for lazy people… They missed the main point: delicate aquatic life requires a constant osmotic pressure. The Osmolator® - short for Osmotic Regulator - provides this in one easy-to-install complete Kit. Only the Osmolator® provides the level of safety and reliability that comes with 25 years of TUNZE® know how.

  • An optic operated mini sensor recognizes the water level precisely.
  • Displays all functions optically and sounds a signal in case of failures.
  • New Magnetic Sensor mount, so easy to use!
  • Redundant security: the main sensor is a proprietary optic sensor. Should that fail a safety float switch shuts the unit off and sounds an alarm. Even if that fails safety circuitry shuts off the pump after 10 minutes.
The Osmolator® will be supplied with low voltage metering pump, mounting magnets, tubing controller and power supply. You only need a reservoir and water!

(1) The precise water level is ensured by a non-wearing optical sensor and a transistor switch without any moving parts. This sensor is insensitive to soiling, light or magnetic fields.

Its “automatic eye” recognises the water level precisely, even small waves or level variations cannot irritate the unit.

(2) An independent safety sensor with a separate power supply circuit and relay control ensures reliable overflow protection.

(3) An electronic time controller and current limiter for the pump connected result in a higher operational safety. This unit protects the metering pump against running dry and reports an empty storage container.

(4) All functions are clearly displayed by LEDs; safety messages are also indicated by acoustic signals.

(5) The osmotic regulators are all operated at safety extra-low voltage.

Comments: I just recently purchased a Tunze 3155 Osmolator for my 40-gallon saltwater tank. I read many reviews and articles on the water top-off systems on the market and this one seemed to be far and away the best, although a bit expensive. The primary reason for purchasing this item was to allow me to travel on occasion and be able to be gone for a few weeks at a time. The tank I wanted to install this on is an older Oceanic glass model witha 1 1/8" wide simulated wood trim around the bottom and top of the tank. It is a very nice looking aquarium but mounting the magnet pieces to hold the water sensor and safety float was a bit of a problem. As it turned out I had to mount these at a angle over the inside lip of the tank (the lip that the glass hood rests on), but the magnets were strong enough to hold them at this angle and it seems to work fine. If I had mounted it flat on the galss the water level would have been below the trim around the top of the tank, which I did not want. I had read in one review where they said they had a problem keeping he leads to the pump in the appropriate connectors. I did not have a problem at all with this as you just press on the connectors (where it says press)and push the wires in and release the connectors. However, I don't know if it will be a problem when the time comes that I have to replace the pump. I believe this unit will allow me to be gone for a few weeks at a time and not have to worry about constantly changing specific gravity of the the water through evaporation. It will have been in operation for a couple of months before my next trip so I will have a good opportunity to test it out beforehand. \\and this one seemed to be

Comments: This product works great right out of the box. I had it up and going in less than 20 minutes. Now I am hoping my skimmer will be easier to fine tune, and my overall salinity will remain stable. Not to mention eliminating the daily top offs!

Comments: I've been running this model on a RSM 130d since before the Tunze Nano became available. This thing is simply the best. I'd still buy this over the nano Tunze. It has a better sensor system. I've ran the Tunze 9002 skimmer and got tired of always having to adjust it even after the air line mod. The 3155 has been a totally great experience. You can adjust the flow rate from large, medium to nano so you keep the perfect water level to keep your skimmer purring and happy. This has been the most reliable piece of equipment of my current reef tank. I've had it a little over 10 months and no problems. This is a must have high quality product!

Comments: This is my second one of these. The first would come on far less often than this second unit. It is on the same size sump as before and the previous tank was actually slightly bigger and needed more top-off water more often. So despite needing to pump more water into the tank, it came on far less often. Its almost as if this new unit is working to keep itself within 1/100th of a millimeter. Its relatively loud so the constant noise is becoming an issue. I'm wondering if they changed the pump out to a weak one.

Comments: I've been through a couple ATO's over the years and it's time to switch to a different brand. When this arrived and was unboxed I notice the quality in it right away. The way the manufacturer took the time to bubble wrap blahh blahh.. Everything is included (literally everything), easy to set up & seems to be fail proof unlike JB¤'s ATO which I was using for 5+ years. Others may be cheaper, but that sain goes a long way...you get what you pay for!

Peace of Mind

Comments: After debating and searching for a couple of months I decided to spring the extra cash for the Osmolator. It had come down to this or the SpectraPure UPLC. I am a very picky consumer. My main concern was using it in a display tank and being able to set it to keep the water level as high as I wanted. It does keep it a little lower (I was keeping it right to the lip (widway point of the top trim) about 1/2" from the very top of the tank. With the sensor at the highest setting (mounted in the display right below the lip on the trim) it keeps the water level exactly at the bottom line of the trim on my 40 breeder it worked out to where I had to remove apx 1gallon from the previous level I kept it at. But at least it is not visible from looking at the tank straight on. Setup was a breeze. I did NOT have any problems with the sensor, bubbles, or breaking it in, etc. Right out of the box it functioned flawlessly. Now instead of lifting and manually dumping 1/2 gallon of RODI twice a day I just fill my custom 7gallon reservoir once a week during the water change and I don't have to worry about it. I work random hours and travel a lot, having someone reliably keep the tank topped off was my biggest worry and now that is eliminated. The slightly lower water level is a non issue, you can't see the line and the peace of mind of knowing my salinity is staying more steady is well worth the trade off. Highly recommend this product!
