Unsatisfactory
doesn't work

Very simply, the door does not close under water. There is no weight on the "weighted door". If you raise the door too high up, it get's lodged in place. If it is low enough to close, you turn a 4" trap into a 2.5" trap. I only got it to close at 2.5" after applying some silicone grease to the door.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

This trap is big, but it does work. To solve the door issue tie 2 fish lines, 1 from the door top straight out to pull the door up/open, the other from the door top down into the hole on the body as a lever to slam the door shut/down & trap the buggers. Both lines have to go up vertically to work. This puppet method works even better if you tie sticks to the end for easy pulling & sit on the recliner. Funny, the fish must think they hooked ME in the mouth, waiting hours in the same spot to slam the door, they just need to reel me in.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

This is one of the useless products that I purchased and is now sitting in my junk pile. Although a good concept, there are logistic limitations to this item. Biggest problem I had was standing in front of my aquarium for hours waiting for the fish to go inside the trap, only to release the string and find the trap door does not close fast enough or reliably enough to capture anything. The fact that you need to baby sit this device and wait for the fish to go inside was reason enough not to purchase it, when I found that the door did not work reliably I was really upset. Don't waste your money and more importantly your time. Build a trap out of empty 2 liter bottles by slicing the top off and placing it the opposite way. This will funnel the fish in and will make it difficult, not impossible, for the fish to get out. Set it, come back in a few hours and see what you have. Place their favorite food and they won't be able to resist. I believed in a commercial product more than my ingenuity and I paid the price. DO NOT BUY!!!
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

...only under ideal conditions. The door/guide frame has a little too much space between them, so the door can get stuck at an angle, and will need to be manually dislodged/pushed down. Also, for those of you with tons of flow in the tank, the door is so light, that the string being blown in the flow will actually raise it. Both of these problems, I think, could have been fixed with a heavier door, with less clearance between it and the frame. One helpful hint: Smear a tiny bit of silicone grease along the edges of the door. This will help it slide more easily, and help prevent it from sticking. All that said, it has worked for me every time I needed to catch a fish, so far.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

This trap is just OK. If I had wanted to catch either of the dwarf angels in my tank or the clown it would have worked well. The flame hawk I was after however wont go near it.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

I had 5 peppermint shrimp that I wanted to remove from my reef tank. I baited the trap with Hikari carnivore tablets, turned off the lights, and within 1-2 hrs, I caught all of them.

The Trap works

Comments:
Okay first off I would like to say the trap is decent but the weighted door design is just downright poor and not very dependable to close in a instant. That said it is better than no Trap.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
