This float switch will operate for high water or low water applications. This can be achieved by simply removing the retaining ring and turning the barrel float upside down. This switch can handle multiple pumps with a combined amperage draw of up to 10 amps. Each switch comes with a 6ft grounded cord and suction cup mounting for the switch. This float switch can save you from burning out that expensive pump or can be used for water top off.

Bought one and was impressed with it that I bought another. I used this in conjunction with a TOM's Aqualifter on a timer and it hasn't failed me yet in the past 4 years. Water level was always where I left it.
Only thing needing improvement will be the suction cup, but I think any suction cup exposed to saltwater will be brittle in a couple of months. What I did was just to bend the wires around my aquarium trimming to 'hang' it in place and that worked fine for me.
I'm sure there are other DIY or float switches that are less and can measure low water/high water at the same time, but for this float, it does what it says at a fairly reasonable price.

I wanted to use this switch as an emergency shut off for my circulation pump and prevent it from running dry. To achieve this I would have to put the float switch very low in my sump. The problem is, that this float switch can NOT be completely submerged. The end where the cables come out is, according to the sparsely written instructions, NOT water proof. The problem is that it would be completely submerged when I have a power outage so it is not an option. I also don't like the suction cup at all. This is clearly not usful for an emergency switch. I'm considering buying the "Tunze Water Level Alarm 7607/2" which would accomplish the same functionality in an much more elegant way. And I absolutely love my new Tunze Osmolator which I just bought. The quality and craftmanship is like day and night compared to this switch. Other then that, this switch might suit your needs just fine. Just didn't work for me.

Im using this to shut the pump off if the u tube fails. Tested and works great. I had to make a different type of tank mount. to allow the float to be higher in the tank. If you use it to fill your tank you'll be fine otherwise if you use it to shut off be prepaired to fabricate.

I used several methods of trying to prevent accidental overflow in my 120 gallon salt water tank. Any accident that prevents with this product. I have tested this and it works great. I would recommend this switch as any overflow system prevention.

Just set up my Ultralife float switch with my Aqua Lifter pump. This is the perfect combo for maintaining your water level. With my reef tank the, SG is maintained perfectly....a care free set-up. I highly recommend this combo!!!
