Great

Vertex IN280 by CARL

Comments: I have had the Vertex IN280 running for about a month now. I pulls a lot of foam out of the water. I have overflowed the skimmer several times after cleaning the skimmer cup but no mess since it is in a sump. I have one big sump with no partition to keep the water level costant for the skimmer and I would recommend having a compartment with a constant level for this skimmer. It would improve the performance of this skimmer. It is big so make sure you have room for it. Because it is large, it is easy to get your hands in to clean but it requires a large sink, bathtub or just going outside with the hose to have room to clean it. It has made a big difference on the system I installed it on. I have noticed dramatic improvements after adding the skimmer. The system had been setup cycling with live rock and no skimmer for six months. After adding the skimmer it pulled out a lot of nog for a few weeks and has settled into a maintenace phase pulling out just what is produced. I highly recommend this skimmer. I liked it so much I bought a second one for the other system I am building. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: One week into this skimmer and everything is well. 1" or more of skim each 24 hours. 1" in this large cup is a lot! Stinky stuff. Easy set up and adjustment. Even on backorder I got this in one week, on sale. For instructions simply look at the picture on line. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Bought this skimmer on sale. Well made product except for required a replacement standpipe, due to sloppy glue job on air tube connection . Marine Depot communicated with the US vendor who quickly sent a replacement. After that, nothing but excellent skimming. Definitely worth what I paid for it. I highly recommend it. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Instructions to put it together are a little rough but other than that I recomend it if you have space under neath for it. Very quiet, and powerful Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I like this skimmer, at first I wasn't sure. One thing I didn't like was that the manual is a bit cofusing, but once U figure it out is easy. The pump was noisy the fisrt week but after, it went quiet. it took me almost two weeks to get it ajusted but now is amazing, it really works I love. Comments: Bought an IN80. Excellent value for the money. Skimmer is very well made. I hope the pump hangs in there. Two weeks: so far so good. If the pump lasts this skimmer is 5 star. If if dies in less than three years (as I have pumps that are 15 years old and still going) then shame on Vertex. The instructions create a vacuum, but a look at the photos on the web clarify assembly. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Put it to work and, once broken in, it pulled all kinds of nasty smelly green stuff. At first it was a little loud but the helpful staff sent out a new impeller right away. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I did a lot of reading and checked out several forums before deciding to purchase this skimmer. It was relatively easy to install and break in. Overall, it feels very well constructed and fits nicely into my 20L sump. Compared to my old skimmer, this one pulls out nearly twice as much skimmate on a much drier setting! The great thing about the setup that I have is that I never have to change the level as my sump is a constant water column height! I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a budget friendly, well made protein skimmer! My corals and fish are much happier because of it! Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I've only been using it a little over a week, but I must say it is doing a great job! I'm using it on a new tank that is cycling and it's pulling out a ton of junk. It takes a little while to adjust, but that's not a big deal. Only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the instructions were written for plumbers not the common every day reefer and had no pictures. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I received the skimmer yesterday afternoon, put it together and threw it in the sump. It started making skimmate after an hour or two. Definitely well constructed and the pump got very quiet after an hour. I'm very impressed with this skimmer and you definitely can't beat the price. I have it sitting in 8" of water before a bubble trap and I don't have any micro bubbles going back into the tank. The adjuster tube is a little sensitive, but once it's set you're good to go. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: At first I did not think this skimmer was going to work for me, because the pump was forcing to many microbubbles up the collection cup. After a few mods the skimmer works very well. I'm having no problems after a week. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Well I had my doubts and read mixed reviews but still went ahead and bought the skimmer...let me tell you that I never expected it to be this amazing! My buddy has a bubble king and the Vertex-180 is yielding the exact same performance...this skimmer is a beast and I can't believe it's priced so low...this is truly a great investment! Performance wise...very very quit, pump runs silent, adjustable intake is very easy to use to raise or lower skimmate level, millions of micro bubbles, slimy thick froth within 2hrs...And no microbubbles in the output...no need for filtersock!!! Only drawback is that the instructions could be more clear with diagrams..but I can easily forgive this from the amazing performance of the Vertex!!! A++++++ Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Skimmer is easy to use and has a small adjustable footprint for a small space. Flow control easy to use but sometimes hard to twist the vertical pipe with one hand. I have the skimmer in a sump with overhead clearance issues -my aquarium stand. The next larger skimmer size is actually shorter by 1.5" but has a larger diameter. Had I known this I might have gotten the IN-100. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: The acrylic construction is on par with $1000 skimmers and the design, including the new bubble plate, incorporates proven principles. So long as the pump/needle wheel impeller hold up well, this is the best investment among my several thousand dollars worth of tank equipment. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: read review online at reef central seen pictures and videos and this skimmer looks like a euroreef rs series skimmer. After purchasing and setting up this is one big solid skimmer not thin cheap acrylic its built like a tank. Skimmer runs very quiet and after a few days of breaking in it produces some very nice foam and some really nasty skimmate, So i'd say this is a awesome skimmer for the price, i skipped over a octopus skimmer for this one. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I am very impressed with the Vertex. It is well designed at an affordable price, having comparable features to high end “European” skimmers at a fraction of the cost. The beveled riser makes it easy to adjust the skimmer for maximum performance. The Vertex even includes a bubble plate. These sorts of features are usually only found in the most expensive protein skimmers. I had it up and running in less than 15 minutes. From the day I got this skimmer, it has been producing plenty of dark skimmate, with few problems. I found the pumps sweet spot to be around 7” depth inside the sump. The impeller on the included pump has stuck once or twice after being turned off, which required a quick reseating. It is, however, pretty quiet and produces a ton of foam. I do like that the Vertex is set up to allow the use of different pumps If I decide to change it out. All things considered, this skimmer has been an excellent choice for my system at an unbeatable price. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
