EcoSystem Aquarium's Miracle Mud is a special mixture of oceanic mud, harvested from deep waters, combined with minerals and trace elements to provide an ideal refugium substrate that will support a healthy ecosystem within your aquarium. Miracle Mud’s particle composition and mineral makeup support a healthy biofilter, as well as providing a great substrate for macroalgaes and other refugium organisms. As water flows through the substrate it can also pick up trace elements from the substrate, which assists in replenishing and supporting healthy levels in your reef.

Features

  • Supports trace element levels
  • Excellent particle size for biofilter, both aerobic and anaerobic
  • May assist in prevention of HLLE
  • Compatible with fish only & reef aquariums

Whether used in a system centered around refugium filtration or as a supplemental component, Miracle Mud serves to foster a diverse and healthy ecosystem and can assist maintaining healthy nutrient and trace element levels which will be beneficial to both novice and experienced aquarists alike.

Product Questions

I used this product probably 20 years ago. The pictures in the description look different from what I remember. It was actual superfine mud and I was wondering if the new product is more coarse? I'm thinking about using it again. Thanks
Question by: Rick on Mar 15, 2023, 7:46 PM
This will turn into the same mud that you remember, it is just dried for packaging/shipping purposes. Once water is added, many of the small pieces dissolve into that familiar mud substrate!

How often do you need to replace it? Or change it?

Do you have a video on this with more information
Question by: Andre on Jan 30, 2023, 8:24 AM
Thanks for the question! I would treat this like sand and syphon out periodically. You will likely remove some as you do so. You can always replace occassionally. If you syphon out and clean it well you will avoid having a nutrient pit

Do I rinse this before I use it?
Question by: Pam on Sep 28, 2022, 1:32 AM
No, you can add this directly into your system.
