Fiji Mud is collected from rare mud patches, discovered by science years ago, which are found in clear uncontaminated seawater. These patches typically occur at 40 - 50 feet of cool, clear water just off the coral reef.

Fiji Mud is unique in its ability to release essential minerals and vital nutrients that will allow hard and soft corals to flourish whether you are starting a new refugium or topping up your existing one. This product contains all the major and minor trace elements as they naturally occur as well as an elaborate network of 5-100 micron size organisms that are critical for the success with Acropora and other small polyp stony corals.

Alternate use: this product can also be added directly to your aquarium at the rate of one teaspoon per 100 gallons twice weekly. Mix with tank water and pour directly into water flow, the water will become cloudy but will return crystal clear overnight. This will add the essentials nutrients when no refugium is available.

Fiji Mud comes in the following two sizes for your maximum convenience:

  • Refugium Starter comes in a 12lb bucket and is ideal for aquarists who are starting a new refugium system or have a large system and need to buy in bulk
  • Refugium Booster is the same product as Refugium Starter but comes in a smaller container of 24 ounces. This size is perfect for those that want to add live mud to their original live sand bed for increased results or to boost their refugium with additional mud as the refugium will naturally deplete over time.

Less then I thought..

While you get a decent size bucket the amount inside the bucket in the bag is.. rather small. For a 30 gallon refugium you'll need probably 3 of these to get 1 inch thick layer.

Fiji Mud

I used the 12 lb. bucket to start a new system using a 20 gallon tank I built into a refugium. Something in the mud made them very happy!

perfect

I just got 2 12 lb buckets about a week ago and put it in my refugium and started my new 150 gallon tank. I've had zero problems and all lvl's are still holding as a week ago. Is this product really needed?? Not sure but If you got some spare money I really think you should get it.

revived xenia

Great product...all natural mud brought life back to my xenia. After 24 hours the pulse rate increased dramatically. Would recommend for starting up refugium or refreshing an older system.

supreb value !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this mud is unlike any for sale here in Ireland because it's wet mainly, although the only mud we get here is mirical mud by ecosystems... and that goes for €100+ i got 12lbs of this mud for under $60 thats outstanding value the mud is resilliant to minor currents in the refuge. and my little stowaway crab that lives in my fudge took to it immediately burying himself into it. it seems to be working well on all tests.. with a minor drop in nitrates in 2 days of operation... lots more copepods can be observed in the main tank and water seems to be nice and clear i will definitely be buying this product again....

missing link

this product is truly excecptional, will create a zero nitrate enviroment for your tank in your refugium.i have this mud in a 30 gallon acrylic tank partitioned into a fuge.at first i used a micron sock from overflow. water was ultra clear but organisims were suffering.upon removing the sock, the fuge really came alive, this free flowing design is what i prefer.bleaching the socks and de-chloring them is a pain and also introduces unwanted ingreidients from the de-chlorinators promoting micro algae, yuck. .i used grape caulerpa first, did well for 3 months then crashed, switched to chaeto, much more stable .if you prefer the natural way of fuge filtering, walt smith has a great product for you to use for success. i really love this product. 75 gallon megaflow 30 gallon clarity plus home made fuge(figi mud, chaeto) red sea berlin skimmer aquactinics halide/t5
