This is my second one of these pumps. I decided that the price was right for what I needed. The other more sophisticated systems had nice features for a full reef tank, but they are very expensive. My tank is mainly for fish with one mushroom coral. I do take the pump apart to clean when i clean my tank.

This product has worked great for me....I try to place it away from the direct light of the metalhalide lamps to reduce calcium an alge build up at the rotating discharge. The old one at the opposite end of my 150 system is approximately 6 yrs old. I perform routine maintenance only when the discharge stops rotating approx once or twice yearly. This system is approximately 11 years old.

To start, the nozzle at the end always stays in one spot, it does not even move for me. Also the water flow escapes from the sides of the nozzle. Not something you want in your tank. Not a good product. You are better off with another pump.

Seems to be working well. I wish it was a little more powerful. Also, the port that connects to the undergravel filter line is difficult to connect to. Still, its much better than the flo deflector wavemakers, which get noisy and require frequent cleaning.

I have had a powersweep for a while and it works good when clean. It just has to be taken apart about once a week to keep it rotating smoothly. It still gives flow when not rotating but whats the point. Just buy some Maxi Jets with a controller. I also didn't give it another star because it is flat out Bulky and looks horrible in a tank.

Just what your tank needs, great water movement your corals will grow with this running in your tank. I have a 55 and all I need is one, buy it and forget it, you will see the difference.

It's a great idea but the designing is a little shaky. It works great for small tanks when the rotating wheel is clean. For larger tanks a wavemaker is the way to go. It creates a "wave" below water for a short range, but not a very large wave so many are needed. I needed to clean mine weekly because any algae build up at all will stop the rotation. If you clean your tanks once a week then you will be ok with these pumps because you can wipe the algae off in the process. Too high maintenance to most of us. One last improvement for these pumps should be an increased range of motion so a wave across the entire tank is possible instead of just part of the tank. Not good for wide tanks or deep tanks, for my 20 gallon long it was ok.

I have one on my 55 gallon reef tank and for the first two weeks it was working very well, but after that even with regular weekly cleaning the performance has gone down considerably. Have since upgraded to two Hydor Koralia 2. Much better flow and easier to maintain.

These stopped oscillating after one day. Also, they are difficult to clean.
Another annoying aspect is that they continue to blow out microbubbles even months after they've been submerged. This may be caused by cavitation... The company denies it but others have had the same problem.

I would have to agree with the other reviews... This isn't worth the cardboard it comes in. I tried 2 different pumps and both did the same...SUCKED... as stated before, they would lock0up within an hour or two of being placed in the tank... Marine Depot-get rid of this item! Luckily my LFS gave me credit and I bought a real ph!!
