Flame Angel
Flame Angel
Centropyge loriculus

Centropyge loricula (Gunter 1874), the Flame Angel, is a staple in the ornamental marine trade. The flame angel is one of the most beautiful & hardiest. Able to get along with other Pygmy Angels in a tank of at least 75 Gallons or more, due to territoriality. A beautiful peaceful angel, the Flame Angel adapts well to captivity, and can be kept in either a community tank or in Reef tanks so long as caution is noted with Tridacnid species of Clams, and possibly Scallops. Might possibly nip at LPS/SPS Coral Polyps as well.
Maximum Size: the Centropyge loriculus grows up to 4 inches.
Minimum Tank Size: The Flame Angel prefers a tank of at least 20 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.
Diet: The Centropyge loriculus is a omnivore and likes to eat marine algae, mysid shrimp, Spirulina, and other meaty treats.
Level of Care: The Flame Angel is a medium maintenance fish.
Behavior: The Flame Angel may act semi-aggressively toward other fish.
Hardiness: This is a fairly hardy fish.
Water Conditions: Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78 F).
Range: the Cook Islands.
