Instructor:
I've taught quite a few subjects at the college level over the last ten years in Mississippi and Florida, and I'm currently teaching Earth science, environmental science, and astronomy at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa. I really like here, so I think I'll be staying for a long time (assuming they let me). I also taugh English in Yukuhashi, Japan from 2003 to 2005.

After being a marine aquarium hobbyist and business owner for several years I wrote a "do it yourself" aquarium book, which managed to catch the attention of a publisher. This first step eventually led to 5 more aquarium books, the latest of which is Giant Clams in the Sea and the Aquarium. I also picked up a monthly column in Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine, which I've been writing since 1999, and I occasionally write articles for Aquarium Fish Magazine, Conscientious Aquarist magazine, Freshwater and Marine Aquarium magazine, Aquarium Magazine (France), Practical Fishkeeping magazine (UK), Ultramarine magazine (UK), and Reefkeeping magazine at times.

Photographer:
Somebody gave me my first camera when I was a child, and since that time I've taken what seems like a million pictures. Today I still take pictures just for the fun of it, but I also do some work as a professional photographer, as well. Since 1992, a variety of my photographs (over 2,000 images as of June 2006) have been published in artistic magazines, aquarium books and magazines, trade journals, corporate newsletters, marketing brochures, and various educational websites.

Geologist:
Being a rock and fossil collector since I could crawl, it wasn't a surprise to anyone when I choose to be a geology major at Mississippi State University. Since that time I finished my B.S. in Geology and worked for 2 years as a geological and environmental consultant for a firm in Mobile, Alabama. Afterwards, I returned to school and earned my Master's Degree in Geology at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

Soldier:
After a slow start as a supply clerk in the Army Reserve, I was accepted by the 20th Army Special Forces Group and transferred into the Mississippi National Guard. Then, after completing the Army Airborne Course and a few other schools, I served as a training sergeant, instructor, supply guy, and a lot of other things for the same unit. |
