TetraPond ClearChoice Series Biofilter Information |
|
Ornamental fish can overload a pond's ecosystem with ammonia and other pollutants.
ClearChoice Biofilters convert toxic ammonia caused by fish wastest into relatively harmless by-products suach as nitratesm which benefot plants.
4-Stages of ClearChoice Cycle
1. Intake - Water is pumped into top inlet and dispersed by the Trickle-Flow spray bar. 2. Mechanical Filtration - Suspended debris removed by filter sponge pads. 3. Bio-filtration - Water trickles over the bio-rings that provide massive surface area for aerobic bacteria to thrive. Venturi inlet supplies oxygen for aerobic bacteria. The beneficial bacteria on the Bio-Rings convert ammonia into nitrites and then to nitrates. 4. Discharge + Nitrate Removal - SPurified water is discharged out the bottom of the filter to the pond. Nitrates can be removed from the pond by aquatic plants and partial water changes. |
