Excellent!

Comments: I had to go away to school for over two months to come back to an almost totally lost reef system. I lost all of my fish and half of my coral. I was struggling to selvage all of what was left. This is my third skimmer that I had bought it a few months back, but didn’t have the time to install it. While conducting my weekly water change, I thought it would be a good idea to clean out my sump and try to install my new skimmer. I had to play around with my configuration a bit for it was by far the largest size skimmer that I have ever purchased. 24hrs after I have confirmed that everything will fit my whole reef system made a huge turn around. My water level quality made huge gains and all my coral opened up. I have never seen so much foam come out of any skimmer that I have ever seen before. Some of my friends run some nice skimmers i.e. Euro Reef and even custom build and we have never seen such a foam making machine. I have my Aqua-C EV 180 running with a Aqua Bee 3000 for I am currently living in Europe and this thing is amazing. A lot of skimmers do not due well with different Hertz and Voltage and this thing has already out performed my explications. Money very well spent. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Easy to setup. Easy to clean. Pulls so much nasty junk out of my tank. Its almost a pain because I have to empty the collection cup every few days. Friends of mine have used cheaper brands of skimmers and trust me its not worth it. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: Starts working as soon you put it in.This one pulled out brown stuff on day one. Be aware you must buy tubing (hardware store $5.00) to attach it to whichever pump you are using, and may be noisy until broken in . You can attach airline tubing to collection cup to catch overflow if you are away from home(vacation)You can easily adjust water flow or air flow for best skimming. Ive have used two other brands on my 135gal,by far this is the BEST ONE Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: the capacity and amount of foam this skimmer puts out compared to my coralife skimmer is amazing! However not as easy to incorporate into the sump. Make sure you have enough room for a waste collector because it's absolutely necessary. The water also just pours straight into the sump and it can shoot out pretty good, luckily I kept some parts from the last skimmer and the water goes into a basket with poly in it to reduce noise and splashing water. Ideal scenario would be an in sump installation but I just didn't have the room. Overall great skimmer just needs some thought and time to set up. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This skimmer is a breeze to set up and get running in less than 30 minutes, if you have the tubing handy. Very efficient foam maker. I have had it set up for less than a week and it is already running silent and creating a good quality foam. Also, design makes dripping at connections a true non-issue. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I am very impressed with this protein skimmer, After the breakin period I found it extremley easy to adjust. My 90 gal has never looked so good and when I go to a 150 it will not be a problem. I am running it with my viaaqua 4900 that also is doing my overflow return with 2 1/2" powerheads. I would recomend this to anyone that has the saltwater bug Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have had this baby for two years now and it does the job. It's a bit finicky to tune, but once it's dialed in, it works very well. This is probably one of the best investments I have ever made for my reef. Also, if needed, the support staff at AquaC is exceptional! Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I'm very impressed with this skimmer. Great value, it's one of the only skimmers that is shorter than 24" and still big enough for a 120. Much smaller footprint as well which leaves more room for other stuff in the sump, another bonus. And it's made right here in the USA. I am very happy with it. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I have been pretty frustrated with this skimmer. I have had to do multiple modifications, have had to re-tune it and it still does not work as I had hoped. I called AquaC tech support for some guidance, they had me modify it again and their advice just led to the skimmer overflowing onto my floors. I called a second time and went through the set up with them. I have the recommended pump and followed the out of sump set-up as per their instructions and the function is still less than impressive. As for the technician, all I heard were a bunch of excuses and no resolution. At this point, I am probably looking for another skimmer I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: I started using mine to cycle 180 lbs of live rock and the skimmate started within 24hrs as manual said. one of the best skimmers i have messed with very durable but i would suggest using a mag 9.5 with it Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This skimmer is exactly what I wanted. Everything the manufacture stated and all the articles about the EV-180 were correct and straight to the point. Installation was a snap, and it's now producing dark nasty smelling foam. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Tricky to adjust by fpbear

Comments: I have been playing around with the skimmer settings for the past year, and find that it is rather tricky to adjust. I had better luck getting bubbles to rise with a pump that is larger than what is recommended. The skimmer column requires frequent cleaning because it does not have a concave shape and skimmate gets stuck underneath the sharp edges (unlike the Turboflotor I had before, on that model the column used to stay pretty clean by itself). The construction quality on the EV skimmers is excellent, and it has a very nice optional collection overflow container. Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: This skimmer is far and away much better than any skimmer I have used. I have the external collection cup which is great. You won't have to empty it nearly as often as this makes alot of skimmate. I would not recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: mag 7 is not strong enough for all plumbing configurations. I had to buy a mag 9.5 to make up for the head loss. Customer service was great but could not figure out my problem Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
