AquariumPlants Electronic Analog CO2 Regulator Information

AquariumPlants's Electronic Co2 Regulator

This product has forever changed the introduction of Co2 in to an aquarium...Used for co2 injection for a freshwater planted aquarium, or a Calcium reactor in a saltwater application. We guarantee, that, nowhere on this planet can you find a better or more precise regulator! The problem of "dumping" is completely eliminated with our regulator. Dumping is always a problem with (ALL OTHER) regulators which utilize a needle valve. Simply because, a needle valve relies on the pressure on both sides of it for it's accuracy. So, even though you have it set at a certain "bubble rate", once the pressure in the cylinder (or the outside atmospheric pressure) changes, so will the amount of co2 that passes through the needle valve. This is why it is physically impossible for any and ALL other regulators that rely on a "mechanical needle valve" to ever be consistent. Our regulator does not have a needle valve, but instead, it has an electronic valve that opens and closes in a fraction of a second, (each "opening & closing" equates to a bubble) and, due to the fact that it is "electronic" the "bubble rate" can NEVER change, and, once it is set, it can never vary more than "+/- 1/1,000 of a second.

  • fully automatic
  • fully electronic
  • perfectly accurate (from 4 bubbles per second (240 per minute) down to 1 bubble per 10 seconds. (Count can NEVER vary more than 1/1000th of a second!)
  • fully adjustable: you can adjust the "bubbles per second" (or "seconds per bubble") & size of the bubble (very tiny bubbles all the way up to very large bubbles)
  • NO bubble counter (you count "the LED light flashes instead of bubbles through a bubble counter) -NO solenoid (that overheats and eventually fails)
  • No needle valve (the "timing of the "bubbles" is fully electronic) -Low voltage (12 volts & only draws .5 amps) -Built in (internal) check valve
  • 3 year bumper to bumper warranty
  • Yes, it can be controlled with all pH controllers (just like others with a solenoid...just plug it in to your pH controller)
  • Available with optional LCD 8 digit resettable counter (has "backup" battery, will not lose it's count)
  • Now available: "Just the Box"... Many customers currently have a "very expensive" regulator body, with poor quality needle valves/bubble counters/solenoids, so, we are now offering the "electronic control box" separately to use with your existing reg body. They utilize a 1/4" or 1/8" NPT thread size.

Comments: I would not recommend this product... i had to send it back because it leaked out all of the co2 through its pop up release valve. it could not keep pressure and is not worth the money spent.

Comments: Like the other reviewer, I was reluctant to order given the little information available for this unit. Though I did go to the manufacturers site and was able to find additional information that helped me make the choice positively. Have not had tons of time to play with, but it is in operation and was very easy to setup. I am paranoid that it works without failure and am keeping a close eye on it, but so far, it does what it says it will do. I am using a bubble counter to make sure the bubble rate is consistent with the blinking LED and it appears to be doing its job wonderfully. My only negative comment is that the photos show the EN562 gauges like you would find on the Sumo regulators, but the unit I received has non-branded, generic gauges. Cannot comment on the quality of these, but they too appear to be doing their job.

Comments: I was unable to find any reviews of this CO2 regulator online so I was a bit hesitant to give it a try. Just got it today, and I hooked it up to my calcium reactor. Following the directions I insured a tight non-leaking seal between the regulator and the CO2 tank (took a few tries and plumbers tape). Also according to the directions, I tried just hooking up some tubing to the regulator and letting it bubble into a glass of water to get an idea of the output. You can adjust the seconds between bubbles via a turn knob ranging from o.1 sec to 10 sec. According to the instructions, the bubble size is adjusted via the low pressure valve on the regulato (the big black knob). I was concerned when I saw that multiple bubbles came out when I had the tubing just placed in a glass of water, despite the time adjustment between bubbles, and the low pressure valve adjusted down to the smallest value I could dial in. I though perhaps this would mean too much CO2 would be put into the calcium reactor. When I actually hooked the regulator up to my calcium reactor, this problem went away, and indeed, I had to turn the low pressure up to around 12-13 psi (the same range that I had used on my previous regulator). After watching the regulator for the past hour, it seems to be working great, maintaining a steady accurate delivery of CO2 into my reactor. My one complaint would be that the attachment site for the output tubing to the CO2 regulator has no securing nut like my previous CO2 regulator has, so i am a little concerned that the tubing can come off, or maybe leak. Based on my initial experience however, this regulator appears to be working well. The reason I decided to get this relatively expensive piece of equipment is that I travel frequently, and there is no one to make adjustments to the CO2 rate for weeks at a time, so I need something that requires minimal adjustments. Hopefully this will fit the bill
