We've been through 4 or 5 brands of air pump, all of which claim to "silent" or "the quietest". So far, none has truly lived up to that, and this one is no exception. Also surprisingly underpowered for its size. The quest continues...

This pump is great for my in-office 20 gallon freshwater tank. I was looking for something that wouldn't be very loud, as this was purchased for the tank in my office. It's no louder than a very quiet white noise machine, and is unobtrusive in my office setting. I would get this again for any other small tank.

I was hoping this would be a quiet air pump, but it turned out to be very loud! I'm talking in the tank... I know "white noise" can be soothing but this was just plain noisy; my fish was extremely agitated so I took it out. I would send it back but by the time I pay shipping for return, add it to the original shipping cost then my refund will be spent on shipping costs. :( I had a super mini air pump and it worked great as well as being very quiet... I've not been able to find any like it. I guess I'll keep looking.

Recently we have noticed that the competition's products seem to have a short "life span". We researched this product and purchased one for a well stocked aquarium. It was quiet and powerful. Soon after another air pump began to fail. Long story short, all of the competion's products have been replaced, five tanks (45-90gal) with one spare rebuildable kit sitting in a drawer, just in case.

Wow! Hooked this pump up the minute it was delivered and what a change. I'm running two 50+ gallon aquariums with assorted bubble everything (7 children each selected multiple moveable decorations) and it powers everything with bubbles to spare. And is so quiet that I was checking to see if it was running when the kids started assuring me with laughter that all the gadgets in the tank were performing well. (Just hope the fish avoid that Rex's chompers.) Now we wait to see the life expectancy of the pump - so far it's GREAT!
