CPR`s AquaFuge2 hang-on refugiums come in three different sizes to meet the needs of marine aquarists.
Recently redesigned with a black acrylic backing to prevent light from transfering to the main aquarium, each model comes with a powerhead and features a unique baffle system. This prevents the substrate and organisms from being disturbed yet also allows enough water to flow through the eliminate any stagnant areas.
The AquaFuge2 provides ideal growth conditions for food items, such as copepods and ampipods, to feed invertebrates and fish in the main tank.
It provides a controlled growing area for macroalgae, which can be used to reduce "nuisance" algae in the main tank and provided a "nursery" area for a variety of organisms.
In 2011, a new outlet tray was added to improve the water return system.
**Please Note: The AquaFuge 2 does not come with a light fixture, although lighting is needed to meet the needs of your refugium inhabitants. Click here for CPR Lighting Options.

From the advanced Marine Biology department at Humboldt State University, just up the hill from CPR’s headquarters, to Humboldt Bay, about a mile west, CPR is nestled in a perfect environment to develop equipment for marine aquariums. CPR was started in a small garage in 1987 to produce biological filters for local aquarists. People who used CPR filters were impressed by the high quality and affordable prices. Word spread and the company grew. Since then, CPR has expanded to a 10,000 sq. ft. production facility and has developed many innovative products over the years. CPR is incorporating new ideas and technologies all the time. Their goal is to allow aquarists to place the highest performing products in their tanks at reasonable prices.

Im a beginner when it comes to refugiums but intermediate on the fish tanks. The refugium was well packaged and set up was really easy. It did not come with how to instruction but it is so simple and easy u dont need any instructions.it throws out micro bubbles at first like they said it would, but its only been 3 days now sence I hung it and tye bubbles have reduced very much. I do recomend u rince it like they ask, i believe that helped alot. I also got light to refugium and have to block the light with cardboard at night from shineing its light into display tank. I reccomend you buy something that helps with that. The clack background is great. I painted the out side back of my 55 gallon tank back with 3 coats of black paint that also helps. I would recomend this product to my friens. Its alot easier and more inexpensive then the under cabinet refugium. 4 stars.

I'm fairly new to the hobby, and this product is amazing prior to using the aquafuge 2 on my 20 gallon reef I ran a hob filter with live rock and chemi pure. When adding the refugium and macro algae my nitrate lowered significantly and I see less nuisance hair algae in my display. I recommend getting the miracle mud with this as it seems to help in coral growth as well. Really high quality product and I would buy it again

I love this HOB addition to my nano tank, and the miracle mud I ordered with it makes it that much better. Within 1 week of adding this to my tank my coral's grew faster and were brighter. Having this as a gravity feed back into the tank has a HUGE diffrence on the pods in my tank and my 3 little fishies are much happier now too. Really great system and I wish I had it 1 & 1/2 years ago.

Recieved a very nicely built, medium sized refugium. Only negative point was the impossibly tight fit from the pump adapter to the refugium intake. A bit of fine sandpaper applied to the adapter end which goes to the refugium did the trick, providing a snug, secure, but still movable fit.
Teamed it up with a Finnex ML-1836, swapped the included 10k daylight bulb for a Coralife 50/50, added Cheato, 5 lbs of Miracle Mud and some rubble from my LFS and it was 'good to go', easy setup, runs silently.

I ordered the small but mine looks different from the pic, which was almost a problem on my 12gal aquapod. My cpr came with a outlet like a normal hob filter, so it a flat plate that directs water into the tank instead of a pipe as pictured. I was hoping for the pipe so I could extend and route it over my 4" rear filter area and into the tank, but thats not possible now. It just feeds into and pulls from the filter area.. not sure thats as efficient as could be, and the 12" heater I put in the inlet section has to work harder to keep the tank at 80, which probably overheats the hob as a result.
Its quality made and looks nice. I see how it could break if full and you didnt support it properly from the bottom. I bought a light that clips to the side but it sits too high and lights my tank at night (when I want to run the cpr to balance levels at night). I plan to ditch that and find some sort of low profile led that will shoot into the tank from the side. I also plan to make a top for it because I'm losing more evaporated water than I did before.
The rio pump that came with it is garbage, and rattled like crazy as soon as you lessen the flow. I decided to ditch it all together and I split off my main filter pump with a "y" adapter and fed it into the cpr (which needs low flow anyway). This saves power, clutter and keeps my tank quiet.
The flow knob is also quite hard to turn and not confidence inspiring when placing it into the inlet tube. It feels like its going to break, but I've been careful and its ok. Overall I'm happy with it, but it is a bit overpriced.

One of the center braces broke after 1 week and now the refug. is bowed. I will now have to drain it and silicone it back together. My CPR protein skimmer works great though.

Got the small hob refugium for my twenty gallon reef tank and it amazed me how big it actually is and how easy it is to set it up. Works great and looks awesome. I don't like the pump that comes with it, had to play with that a bit. Don't think about it twice just buy it. Happy reeding to everybody.

Bought it for my 29 gallon seahorse only tank, feeding 2 times a day and they r messy eaters to boot! Just perfect, used nitrate sponge for substrate and added Chaeto full of pods, nitrates have gone from 20ppm to below 5 in a week! Runs quiet. Nitrates should be undetectable in a month!
