A built in overflow is the most efficient method of draining aquarium water to a filter. If your aquarium does not have built-in overflow, CPR Continuous Siphon Overflows/Prefilters are the best means for getting water from an aquarium to a filter system without expensive modifications to the tank. They quietly skim up to six times more water than units with tubes.

The advantages of CPR Continuous Siphon Overflows/Prefilters include:
  • Adjustable water level allows you to easily change the level in your tank.
  • Black top reduces algae growth.
  • Quiet operation.
Tip: We recomond the use of an Aqua Lifter pump with the CPR overflows for trouble free operation. Another alternative is to hook the bleed hose from the overflow to the air intake of a power head. This way the overflow will continue to wok if it drawes some air into it or in the event of a power failure it will restart.

Comments: The trick to avoiding an overflow is to place the return pump inside a second chamber within the sump. In the unfortunate event that your siphon overflow fails, only the water inside the chamber will be pumped into your aquarium. Naturally, you should account for the extra water from that chamber to completely avoid flooding.

Comments: I have this box on my 125 W/ 55 gal sump. It is performing well beyond my expectations. ONE HUGE BIT OF ADVICE DO NOT GET A AQUALIFTER PUMP WITH IT. DO NOT!!!! The thing broke down on me a couple of times and almost overflowed the tank. Use a power head of some type that has a airline attachment to keep the syphon going.

Comments: I have been using a CPR overflow box for many years . I started having a problem lately with it not skimming the water surface. What I found out after trying different things was the the actual built in over flow was actually being choke off inside out of sight by those little tube worms and the like. I didn`t know how I was going to clean them out as you can`t get a tool of any kind in there. Solution Removed the overflow From the system Used real hot water and banged on the outside of the tube area with a screw driver handle. I couldn`t believe how much stuff had grown in there,It Came out in chunks like small bricks. It took a few times to clear it out as you can`t see inside the tube. Working just like new again. Hope this helps someone with a slow over flow problem.

Comments: Be prepared to set up a Durso Standpipe with this product. It is REALLY noisy. It makes all sorts of gurgling sounds. Almost like you're flushing a toilet constantly. But once you make the Durso the noise is reduced significantly. I wish CPR would automatically include something like this. Other than that it does it's job and is working well.

Comments: Great Product but the lid is not included!!!!!!!!!!..... it does make a lot of noise. If it had a lid this wouldn't be an issue. I guess the lid is available on the Deluxe model but that is not offered on this site. And the lid is also not available on this site. If I was going to purchase this again I would buy the Deluxe Model.

Comments: This is the 2nd CPR CS Overflow box we have used. Set up is easy. Would rate higher if bulkhead and hose (sold seperate) actually screwed together even if you had to purchase another optional piece. Maintain your air tubing with the lift (optional) for less troubles. The parts for leveling tend to pop off and have to be glued back. Hope to have better luck with this one.
