Comments:
The good thing about this calcium reactor is that it is cheap. Even so, it isn't worth the money. As another reviewer stated, bubbles build up in the pump line (I found it happened at least once a week) preventing eluent from being pumped into the tank. Construction is flimsy, and the foam filter pad would get clogged preventing the pump from drawing sufficient water. I spent more time maintaining this than if I had dosed my tank with calcium manually.

This reactor is a good cheap base if you willing to modify it(this will void the warranty). Silicon around the pump and PTFE tape on all the screw threads, ussed eggcrate to lift the sponge up above the outlet, added a second chamber with crushed coral to further remove CO2, replaced the inlet hose screw with a needle valve for finer flow control and added a ball valve to the top for venting gas buildup occasionally.

Comments:
Pros: inexpensive, compact, easy to fill, pH probe-ready, low-power consumption
Cons: Getting the unit running (getting air out of pump inlet line) is time-consuming and tedious. A bubble builds up in the top of the unit every couple of weeks which requires the inlet/outlet tubes be pinched off so the top can be unscrewed and water can be poured in. The pump attaches bayonet-style, and it is very flimsy and cracks easily. The "auto-fill" bubble counter goes dry over time and there is no easy way to refill it.

I've been using it for almost 1 year now. It's been flawless eversince. You cant beat the price and performance.
Why would you pay $450+ for the same Job where you can get for $130-$200?

Good, But Needs A Few Mods
by
Nicholas
Great
Comments:
I could not even get any effluent out of this thing until I did two mods. 1-It needs a feed pump. An aqualifter seems just fine.2-You need to use a piece of 3/4" PVC and egg crate to raise up the foam
