Easy to use and fast. You just need to make sure the regent package is opened while the unit is zeroing rather than waiting till it is waiting for you to pour.
Since the unit automatically shuts down shortly after taking a measures, it would be great if it would beep to signal when it can be read.

Excellent product easy to use. This takes the guess work out of knowing the phosphates levels in the tank. It is a whole lot easier then taking water samples to the local fish guy.Customer Service help us out on this one and stock a small 'funnel' to help in putting the solution in the vials.Price is good and it works well. I will be buying more Hanna instruments hand checkers. Very pleased

Mimicking normal physiology of a Reef is always our goal in reef keeping. This is a great overall product for accurately measuring combined iron for corals/macroalgae with a goal to aprox. .06. - Results obtained in 3 minutes.
The only thing that you cannot measure is the chelated iron with this product (Use Nutrifin Test Iron made by Hagen for chelated Iron result which takes 30 minutes), but when you use two supplements like Brightwell Ferrion and Salifert Trace Soft and Trace Hard supplements this product is very helpful to simply ensure you aren't dosing too much.
Have had some very nice results and have seen the leaves of my Red Mangroves open up nicely! Red Sea Kelp is a bright color and Ulva looks as nice as the day I received it.
I am using the Kessil H150 Horticulture lights in Magenta and Blue along with Eheim 6700K and 10000K with the Deep Blue Ocean Solar Flare for my 10 gallon Refugium. Just make sure you place a small filter sock over the end of the skimmer to ensure that micro bubbles do not enter the "fuge". This will limit any unwanted algae attaching to your desired macro plants.
I trust the results!

These testers are great. Easy and accurate. I bought the alkalinity, phosphate, and calcium models. I have used other test kits like the Red Sea and API -- the steps are confusing and reading a color chart to try and determine which one is a "match" is very challenging and frustrating. I have looked brands of test kits and all seem to be the same. The Hanna Checkers are by far the easiest to use. Buy extra reagents (they come with 25 - except the phosphate which only comes with 6).

Accuracy, simplicity..all good except does not stay on enough for the test to complete. Have to use both vials. One to zero out the device and one with actual test. If you don't do this, the checker will auto power down.

Comments:
The Hanna Iron colorimeter checker is not worthy of the Hanna line. I have used their low range phosphate checker for years and love it. When these lower cost checkers became available, I purchased the iron checker. It is a small plastic meter that compares the sample water without a reagent to the sample water with a regent, similar to the idea behind most of their other colorimeters. You have to be quick to use the meter or it times out after three minutes and the test requires you t open the packet of reagent, get it all into the cuvette and then shake for a full two minutes until the powder is dissolved. Doing that within the three minute time span takes practice (my advice is to cut the regent packet first). That is a minor issue.
The big problem is lack of accuracy. To be fair, the information sheet that comes with the meter says the accuracy is +/- 0.04 ppm of Fe. I drew a sample of water from my reef tank into the supplied cuvette, ran the sample through the initial test stage and then added the full packet of reagent (had to work to get all the powder out, but I did manage that), shook the tube for full two minutes and tapped gently to remove any bubble from the side of the cuvette. The first reading gave a zero. Since it was possible that was correct, I dosed enough Red Sea Coral Colors "C" (iron supplement) to bring my 200 gallon tank from 0 ppm to 0.10 ppm according to the Red Sea instruction sheet I rinsed the cuvette with DI water twice and then grabbed a new sample (filled with tank water, dumped the saltwater from the cuvette and repeated to insure there was no dilution). Reran the test and the Hanna meter read zero again. I called Hanna and they were less than enthusiastic about this meter's accuracy, saying is was meant for gross testing and mentioned how tough it was to test any salt water because of schlieren issues with salt water and some of their colorimeters. I will now try a chemical test kit to test iron so as not to ove

I have three of them now (Phosphate, Calcium, & Alk) and I love all three. Much easier to use and I love the LCD read out vs matching colors. I couldn't ask for a better testing product!!!

While the digital readout is very convenient, I have found the accuracy inconsistent. I think that the two weak spots in the process are the extremely small volume of test sample ( .1 ml) and the sensitivity of the powdered reagent in the pre-packaged pouches. It can be difficult to ensure that all of the powder has been dispensed from the packet. Sometimes quite a bit seems to stick in the seams of the pouch, and some testing has shown that small variations in the amount of powder used can make a large difference in the reading.
