ETH 201 In-Line Heater UL Listed 200 Watt for 16mm & 5/8" Hose
External thermal heater which includes the PTC system. Suitable for all external canister filters
The Hydor ETH in-line external heater is designed for vertical use in most aquarium applications involving water hose of the specified diameter. The ETH must be used in a vertical manner for correct operation. The most common application is for use with canister filters however the ETH is easily adapted for use in almost any situation where heated aquarium water is required, such as with wet/dry sump pumps. The ETH is easily installed by cutting the tubing and connecting the two parts of the tube to each side of the ETH. For reduced maintenance, it is recommended that the ETH be installed within the filter`s output assembly. As most canister filters are not designed to bear weight, it is recommended that the ETH be properly supported by the use of the attached loop to avoid stress on the output assembly. The ETH is completely safe and UL Listed. There is no danger of damage if the ETH is left running dry for short periods as the ETH will switch itself off in that event. The ETH heats with high efficiency by means of an internal heat pump system that avoids temperature variations. For use in freshwater and marine aquariums. Fits most canister filters such as the Hydor Prime, the Rena Filstar, Eheim canisters, and the Fluval canisters with the use of a short section of tubing to complete the connection. Use of the ETH cleaning brush is recommended.
Features:
- Completely safe. No danger of damage if the equipment is left running without water for a short period of time.
- Patented heating element made with the exclusive PTC system. The traditional metal resistor coils have been replaced by a special polymer sheet, silk-screened with heating ink.
- Setting of temperature controlled by an electronic circuit with indicator light.
- Connectors suitable for any flexible pipe of all external filters.
- Two year manufacturer`s warranty.

I own 10 of these heaters, most being the 300 watt model
Over the years I have owned many heaters, NONE of them come close to the accuracy and longevity of the ETH. Some of mine are over 10 years old and still continue to perform as well as the day I got them. If you have a canister filter this is the heater for you.

works great, so far temps have dropped to mid 30s and has been able to keep my 40G sump(set in garage) and 155G display tank temp at 72.Love the fact that I do not have to worry about breaking inside the sump and chocking my tank

I have had my share of problems with heaters, sticking on and cooking my fish, glass tube cracking or they stop they working. I've lost count of the heaters I've trashed. I bought one the Hydor ETH300s for my 90 gal discus tank over 4 years ago. It has worked flawlessly holding the temp at 83 degrees even in a cold room. I even removed the 300 watt in-tank backup heater year ago.
I will say this, take your time setting up the hoses. Don't let the weight of the heater hang on the hoses, I use the hook on the heater so it hangs on the back of the tank.

This is my second Hydor in-line heater, I have a 300 watt on my 75 gal planted tank and a 200 watt on my 29 gal planted tank. I chose them because I wanted less equipment visible in the tank. The thermostat on these is much better than the Hydor Theo heaters. The Theo heaters are great from a shatterproof and auto-shutoff-run-dry perspective, but their thermostats are 10+ degrees off. Not so with the Hydor ETH, they're just right!

Quick and easy to install, nessasary for a Stingray tank, no burns. One thought though, I replaced a 150w in tank w/ this 200w inline and the inline cannot keep up with the heat loss, gona switch to the 300w. Double the wattage to do the same work. I'm heating a 150 ga pond to 78F installed in my basement, ambent temp about 65F.

This heater was perfect for my application; the only problem I have is that the thermostat is a bit coarse.... if I set it to turn on when the tank is 78 it won't turn off till the tank is around 81 or 82. Luckly, my tank runs at the same temp without a heater almost always so it's not much of an issue. Probably I'll get a temperature controller and run the thing with that.

The heater works exceptionally well. I have a pair of Red-eared sliders and had a tough time finding a way to heat the water to 78-80 degrees and keep the turtles from touching the heating element. Heater installed easily inline with the return tube and keeps the water at a balmy 79.5 degrees perfectly. Highly reccomend!!
