Great
Satisfied owner! by DARREN CARLTON

Comments: I bought my JBJ 28 gallon HQI about two months ago. Very happy with my purchase. Set-up was pretty easy. In short, I have stocked it with 35 lbs of Florida live rock (beautiful rock!), 30 lbs of live sand, a clean-up crew, and a Lawnmower Blenny to deal with an initial hair algea outbreak. Observations: the stock protein skimmer is okay. I actually now use it on my 10 gallon nano. Instead I purchased the Tunze 9002 as it fits snuggly in the back compartment once you saw off the magnet! (there goes the warranty) That unit rocks! In order to get it to fit I did break out the Dremel toolkit and modified the hood so the cup would fit. Next, I notice that the HQI runs hot. Depending on how long you let the lights run your temp could easily climb 4-6 degrees. Since I want to stock with a pair of clowns I decided to purchase the AquaEuroUSA 60 gallon chiller. That should arrive today and hopefully I will be able to keep the water temp at or about 78 degrees. In hindsight, I guess I could have bought the PC light version, but didn't appreciate the temperature challenges. Oh well... Overall, I am very happy and looking forward to years of aquatic bliss with my new purchase!
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Great product! by JOSH P.

Comments: The tank is wonderful. Very nice and well made. Looks great too. The filtration, lighting, and water return works amazingly well. I recommend this product to anyone. With the compact fluorescent model, their seems to be no need for a chiller. I am cycling my 28g now with about 30 lbs of live rock and 30 lbs of black live sand. The stand on the other hand is somewhat cheaply made but hey, it was free! What can I say? That's the only reason I didn't give 5 star status.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Decent. by C. FOX

Comments: All in all the set-up is decent. It's a good price. Pros: looks nice, mine runs quietly(sounds like a computer), tank stand is solid. Cons: Lid doesnt sit flush(not a huge gap but a little), filter seems to be a bit weak. Claims its 3 stage but, you barely get water flow past first sponge. So prepare to buy some powerheads to assit water flow. All said and done I like the set-up but have spent little time with it.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Great
Great value compared to others by JOHN WALLACE

Comments: I've only had the tank a few days, but here are some initial thoughts. They also clearly added additional packing, everything arrived (seemingly) OK.This unit packs a lot of value: the dual pumps, the wavemaker, the QUAD CF lights, and the ease of converting the filter media basket to a refugium. JBJ makes a refugium light ($59) for that purpose. I just liked what this unit had to offer compared with a more known nano reef unit. Better lights, not HQI (heat a big concern). If I had more $$$ I might have opted for the JBJ Nano Cube LED system. I did find a minor blemish - two minute scrathes on the exterior glass near the rim. There was also some black plastic type flakes on the glass, appears to have been from the manufacturing process. I know they are there but I doubt other people will see that first. There was also a chip on the stand's side, again appears to have shipped from the factory that way, not from this store's handling.I'd do business with them again - in fact I am thinking of adding a canister filter tha I could hide in the stand. I just like more filtration - I used live sand and it was cloudy for a few days, I think additional filtration might be a good plan for the initial cycle.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Comments: THIS IS MY FIRST TANK AND I COULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT A BETTER SETUP ANYWHERE. THE QUALITY AND CONSTRUCTION IS TOP SHELF,PLUS THE ARRANGEMENT OF LIGHTING,FILTERING ETC. MAKES IT A BREEZE TO MAINTAIN EVEN FOR A NOVICE. I CONSIDER IT A FINE PIECE OF FURNITURE IN MY LIVING ROOM. THANKS

Great Price! by IBRAHIM H.

Comments: I would agree with most in the reviews that this aquarium does overheat (3-4 degrees a day). A chiller would be a good idea. I would also consider getting a new protein skimmer (stock one kinda sucks, also gets in the way of opening the hood). On the flip side… great price for a reef aquarium with HQI and free stand, let’s not forget the free shipping! Awesome! FYI don’t forget the heater. Happy Reefing.

Nice Package But Not Perfect by WILLIAM RENFROE

Posted on 3/3/2010 from FREMONT, CA UNITED STATES
Comments: NOTE: I've only had the Quad Cube for less than a week. However, I've filled it with gravel, decorations, plastic plants and water and I'm in the process of doing a "fishless cycling" for a freshwater setup. First, the tank and included stand arrived in about 4 days (I live in Northern California). Both tank and stand were impressively packaged in bubble wrap and/or styrofoam, etc. No damage was noticed. Assembly of the stand was not bad, but two panels were mislabeled and caused some redo (from China). The stand appears sturdy enough to support the nearly 300 pounds of aquarium, water, gravel, etc. Looks good too. Also, the tank with hood appears to be well designed and of high quality. I do have some minor observations and comments. The hood fans, which operate whenever the day lights are on, are loud, but do dissipate heat and keep the hood relatively cool. The powerheads (pumps) have an annoying hum, especially when both are operating. Access to the powerheads is VERY limited. The LED lights do not have a on/off switch...this is not a problem if you plug your lights into a timer. The lighting is great as is the removable filter tray. I noticed that the quad light (bulb) replacement is $40-50...Yikes! The powerheads (2X 266 GPH) appear to be doing a good job, but, of course, I don't have fish yet. Only time will tell, but my initial opinion is that this is a very nice package and competitive ($300 with stand) with good quality coventional glass/acrylic aquarium kits with stand. Additional note: The warranty appears to be only 6-months (enclosed warranty card) vs. the 2-years I saw posted on another web site. In any case, according to the warranty card, you have to ship the defective item to the manufacturer JBJ Lighting at your cost...good luck with that!

Comments: This product looks amazing. Perfect size for a begginer level person. The stand is also great looking And the quality is as good is as good as it is going to get for a put together stand. Lights are super bright and the moonlights at night are just stunning. Tank runs fairly quiet with fans and filter running.

Comments: I READ MANY REVIEWS AND WAS WONDERING WHAT THE TANK WOULD REALLY BE LIKE...THE TANK IS EVERYTHING IT SAYS IT IS! I READ TONS OF REVIEWS THAT PEOPLE COULDNT GET THE STAND PUT TOGETHER THAT WELL. I THOUGHT IT WAS A BREEZE. TOOK ME TEN MINUTES! I MEAN IF YOU HAVE ANY HANDY SKILLS AT ALL YOU CAN DO IT W/OUT INSTRUCTIONS. CENTER OVERFLOW AND THE 2 JETS ARE PERFECT COMBO TOGETHER. THE LIGHTING IS MORE THAN ENOUGH. LOVE MY NEW TANK! WOULD AND HAVE RECOMMENDED IT TO MANY PEOPLE!

Pretty Good Tank by PHICHAU DO

Comments: This is a pretty good tank, that has everything needed to start your reef. The only draw back is that the filter media tray need to be a bit thicker so the sponge can catch more dirt as the size it's right now some water over flow.

JBJ 28G-CF Nano Cube by DAVID B.
Experience Level: Beginner
Posted on 11/18/2009 from NY
Comments: All in all I love the tank! Good points: -highest lighting wattage (105W) for CF of any tank in it's class, am growing LPS corals! -wavemaker, dual pumps give pretty water movement. -stand is a good look and good storage. -Good Customer service Bad points: -pumps were a little noisy and got replacements from JBJ, better but still a little noisy. -space for pumps are very small, and difficult to install and remove for cleaning -CF lights heat up the water some, should be alright though. It looks great in our dining room and I'm happy with my choice!
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.

Great Tank by KRISTA KLETT

Posted on 10/24/2009 from DUNNELLON, FL UNITED STATES
Comments: The tank was a breeze to set up. As a beginner, I had no problems. The stand was labeled incorrectly and had to be unassembled, just a little frustrating. Now that it is all set, water and substrate added, I am looking foward to adding it's first residents. Two little clowns that have been in a two gallon for the past year

Nano is weak by JUSTIN WANDLING
Experience Level: Beginner
Posted on 9/17/2009 from DAVENPORT, IA UNITED STATES
Comments: The overall apearance of this aquarium is nice but there in lies the flaws. The filter system is very weak and had to incorporate a 50g filter just to clean out the clowdiness hanging it off the front with the lid sitting on it. The nice appearance also includes forcing all extras into the back with very little room. Everytime you open the lid you have to remove the skimmer and it pushes down my heater. Have not had any overheating issues. The moonlight is nice and also like the day lights. Debating tearing down the back portion and rebuilding with Marineland 200 filter and extra powerhead.
I would not recommend this product to my friends.

EASY all in one reefing by R. WESSELS
Experience Level: Beginner
Posted on 9/16/2009 from FREMONT, CA UNITED STATES
Comments: My son & husband purchased the 28G-Quad CF for my birthday. This set up is amazing! It's stylish, well built, everything went together without a hitch. I managed to score 50 pounds of mature live rock & 25 pounds of mature live sand from a local aquariast who was moving, so I was good to go in 3 days. I already have my fish, some soft corals, & a few invertibrates happily living in the tank! It really is a beautiful set up & very easy to use. The wave-maker is a cool feature. The flow is good (good enough to knock one of my loose mushrooms behind my live rock, so I'll need to rearrange the tank to go get him ! LOL). I replaced the carbon & ceramic rings in my filter media center container with chaeto moss & some BioChem Ultra. I left the black 'sponges' in place... I'll loose the BioChem in the next few months, it was just put in as an added precaution since it's not officially a mature system. My percula pair, shrimp, zoas, crabs and soft corals are all VERY happy in their new home. I can't wait to see how my reef comes along in the next few years! I have no doubt that this well made set up will last.
Yes, I would recommend this product to my friends.
